Louise Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 Gudjonsson is out after five yellow cards, Tiatto is obviously doubtful. Levein also wants to spice up our attack: Levein said: "We were a lot more solid at the back, the two centre-halves did well, as did Chris Makin, but that is only one part of the job."Now it is a question of livening up the attack. "That is something we will be working on before Saturday because our aim is to get as many points as possible as quickly as possible." So there will be changes for Saturday then. Any ideas? I'd like to see Canero back in and Morris getting a start, I imagine Gemmill will replace Gudjonsson. Can't see many changes that can be made to the front two...
Samu Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 Yeah definitely have Canero back. Does anyone know why he was out on Saturday? Maybe they could either bring Williams back into midfield if its not too early for him or try Morris behind the front two
Scow Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 I'm a bit baffled about Canero - Nothing has been said by the Official Site/Levein. As for Gemmill, he signed his month's extension on 27/10/04 - So hopefully this will be his last game. However, If Tiatto is fit, then I would like to see him move in field with Nalis, put Morris on the left wing, and keep Gillespie on the right.
Guest Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 One of the first things Levein worked on when he arrived was defending and taking set pieces, so I've been told. Looks like the defensive side is working better, but he's right about concentrating on the attacking side. It will be interesting to see what he does on Saturday; I was surprised Canero didn't feature at Wigan, he's good going forward.
Ric Flair Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 Williams in please, Gemmill is a waste of time. If we can afford to keep Gemmill for the season then we could afford a striker with that money.
Steven Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 Question for the Moan In this evening. Why was Canero not playing or on the bench?
Louise Posted 22 November 2004 Author Posted 22 November 2004 Says on the OS Tiatto could be out for two-three weeks, and is definately out on Saturday.
Wilson Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 Hopefully Levein will stick Williams back into the side. Has Williams played a game whilst Levein has been in charge?
Mark Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 "Now it is a question of livening up the attack. 38607 Then drop Scowcroft, if he don't do that then he has no intention of doing so! He's the most unlively player i've ever watched.
BartonFox Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 Looking at how he has named his teams and substitutes I would imagine any change that Blake will be a 'viable' option. Personally I'd throw Morris and Scowcroft upfront just to see if we can shake it up a bit. Connolly is a good player but he isn't getting any luck just now. As for midfield it can only be Williams or Gemmill alongside Nalis. Williams would get my shout. I'd also give Canero a pop in midfield playing infront of Makin. Time to get some points on the board. Edited to add - Forgot Tiatto was kaput, so I'd chuck Benjamin out wide on the left to keep Morris up top.
Ash Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 Surely Williams is going to get a look in , after he has regained his fitness
Scow Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 Surely Williams is going to get a look in , after he has regained his fitness 38786 Williams lacks in match fitness, so Gemmill seems favourite to start on Saturday.
Wilson Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 Williams will probably come on about 60mins to replace Gemmil (or the other way round)

Williams that is

shen Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 well Gemmill cant be more match fit than Williams with the few last minute substitutions hes had....

Scow Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 We'll see Scowy 38882 I would want Williams to start ahead of Gemmill, but I don't think it will happen.
Wilson Posted 22 November 2004 Posted 22 November 2004 Same here Scowy, The majority of the squad has improved since CL has taken over the team so I'd like to see if Williams has improved.
Little Nicky Posted 23 November 2004 Posted 23 November 2004 It's nice to see CL's keeping the average squad age down though isn't it , putting Gemmill in the middle on saturday throws another old dog into the mould, along with Gillespie who's crap and dabizas at the back whom I also have lost respect for after his dismal defensive clearances at times! However, for Plymouth it's got to be Williams alongside Nalis with Morris out on the left, keep the defence, that partnership seemed to work on saturday which IMO was quite surprising. Scowy undoubtedly will start up front with Connolly and Gillespie in front of Makin again, CL seems to have confidence in Gillespie for some reason but, if he can get him to start producing and assisting the front 2 then I'm all for that! I've got a good feeling about this weekend!
Wilson Posted 23 November 2004 Posted 23 November 2004 Did you say the same thing last weekend Hopefully we should pick up 3 points on saturday - I just wonder how long he will keep Gillespie in the side for.
Ric Flair Posted 23 November 2004 Posted 23 November 2004 I think everyone's problem is we are still on edge from the Adams era and all these old players are holding us back from being positive. We all want a young and vibrant team that will play together for more than one season and we can build some rapport with them. Until Levein can let some of them go though we are trapped in terms of playing younger plays. Personally I would like Stearman, Dawson, Williams, Heath, Morris and Wright picked over Dabizas, Gemmill, Blake and Dublin and i've been guilty of thinking to myself that Levein has lied about his eagerness to lower the age of the team, But he has said now's not the right time to throw the kids in and he wants to settle things down before then, which makes sense but we heard this from Micky once or twice and it never happened. I believe Levein, so it's a case of waiting and having the faith. If he starts to play these old players and they perform then fair enough, if they play and they don't perform then Levein will have no hesitation in getting rid.
