I wasnt bothered when i first read it, but after seeing the changes they are making to the stadium its terrible. The green seats are shocking. Its not our stadium anymore.

They are just artists impressions, in reality they will probably just add a glass Tigers logo to the front, change the banner around the stadium and change the seating slightly.

Who is in favour of this?

No true city fan could support this...

Must be some peanut hugger on here. :(

I'm unsure about the move, as I work there I suppose I'm slightly biased because it would mean a lot more functions etc, but if it is to mean major job losses then I'm against the move, however the extra income and high profile for the club can only be a good move!

I am opposed to the idea of the pitch being mashed up, no matter what the club say the pitch won't ever be perfect, unless it is artificial because rugby is a tough game and the grass at welford road always looks under-par to me!

What they going to call this proposed mess the "Walkers Welford Stadium" with "The Crumby BMI Baby North Stand"

I doubt this very much, when they said complete rebranding I assume that means sponsorship deals also! The Stadium will probably be given a completely new look and the stands all renamed with only the Lineker stand really keeping the club heritage

I am a big supporter of both clubs! There would be advantages and disadvantages to both clubs if they do share the stadium.

Leicester City

Advantages - They would be a lot better off financially, so we would hopefully be able to stay in the premiership next season (if we get there this season).

Disadvantages - The pitch won't be the same when the Tigers play on it, but apparently they are going to undergo some work to solve the problem.

Tigers

Advantages - The Tigers would also be in a much better financial situation because they sell out their games straight away, so they would be able to sell more tickets.

Disadvantages - Not sure the usual standing fans would like it. I used to love standing at the Tigers because you get so close to the action. The atmosphere wouldn't be the same as it is at Welford Road.

I think we should sing this at the weekend.

In the pompey tune...

F**k off tigers, Tigers F**k off!

The only negative is the pitch being wrecked. All the clap trap about losing our identity is rubbish in my eyes. For Leicester games the stand names will be the same, the pictures on the walls will be Leicester, Bar names will be leicester and visa versa for the tigers. If anyone is losing their identity it is tigers as they are losing their ground!

Like fulham and Qpr last year we will have photos on hinges that take one second to flip over, stand and bar names that are reversable etc etc. There will be 3-7 days between games plenty of time for the odd job man to go round and turn everything over.

Personally if this move secures the future of the club and maybe even frees up a bit more cash for CL then I can put up with a tigers logo next to ours on the front of the stadium. I support both teams and want whats best for both!!

Wait for the name change to the City Of Leicester Stadium, along with our new green 3rd strip and tigers blue 3rd strip!!!

Some worthwhile points there babylon. As I said in a previous post, all of my arguments against the idea come from the heart, not the head.

If it means that we are now in a better position to renegotiate certain aspects of the finance including sponsorship etc for the stadium due to change of ownership then it might not be a bad thing.

With regards to the look of the stadium, I think that you're right. When England played, it was rebranded internally and there's no reason why that shouldn't be able to happen week in week out.

Not sure how much they're looking to spend on pitch technology but the Millenium stadium has the grass moved in and out on palletts. We need to know the full details before staging a coup.

The pitch is the major thing for me. If they can guarantee that it won't harm the pitch emensely then it's ok with me. I go to watch Leicester city, i don't go to look at the pictures hanging from the roof!

Another major thing for me thats just come to mind, is about the company that will be set up who city and tigers pay their rent to. Will this be a profit making company ie directors creaming off the top. Or will it be not profit making and only there to make sure neither ourselves or the tigers go tits up should something go wrong!!

Maybe i'm slightly biased as a relative of mine plays for tigers and england!

The club lost its soul when it left Filbert Street, so the financial benefits of a groundshare get my vote for doing it.

Exactly! Filbert Street was the identity of Leicester city along with the name. The walkers stadium is an identikit stadium with no soul.

If the club's future hinges on this "proposal", is there something the board aren't telling us?

Posted

I'm not sure/Yes, the fans will just have to get used to it, as with moving away from filbert street. I can't see how this is going to affect the club, only make it stronger. The green seats are the only thing i don't like. Any cash recieved is going to benefit the club and I'd rather see that than suffer the foolish pride of us fans. Accept it, because it is a decision that's out of our hands.
