Milky Posted 14 August 2006 Posted 14 August 2006 "We played so badly it was a relief to win. This wasn't exactly a showpiece game. The players lacked quality and seemed happy to exploit ipswich's unforced errors...lightweight stephen hughes was a waste of space" paul coulson - www.leicester.rivals.net This seems a very harsh report from a leicester fan, i thought we played pretty well to be honest and offered much more encouragement. As for hughes, ok he messed up for the goal but he scored a cracker himself and put in a good display.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 14 August 2006 Posted 14 August 2006 The man is clearly a Forest fan! Tw@t!!!!
Ultra Posted 14 August 2006 Posted 14 August 2006 The Rivals website is notoriously negative. One of their writers had us down for relegation after the Luton game. Opinions from there shouldn't be taken too seriously.
Lester LXXIV Posted 14 August 2006 Posted 14 August 2006 Well I think someone should delete this topic then, we don't do negativity no more!!

syston_fox Posted 14 August 2006 Posted 14 August 2006 lightweight stephen hughes was a waste of space" He's got man of the match in most match reports ive read!

Aside from anything else, I thought the standard offered up by both teams was pretty appalling. Completely unforced misplaced passes... just the basic stuff was so so poor. Admittedly Ipswich were much worse than us, but we hardly bathed ourselves in glory.
Ultra Posted 14 August 2006 Posted 14 August 2006 But does ANYONE go to the Way expecting a Champions League standard of football? We did most of the basics adequately, which is something that hasn't happened for a while. We tackled and passed well and actually managed to put some decent moves together. With a more confident strikeforce, and a half-competent linesman, we could have had 6 or 7. We also showed glimpses of quality, which in this league is as rare as rocking horse poo. No-one's pretending we're anywhere near Premiership or even promotion level yet. But our players and manager have slightly more ability than they're sometimes given credit for.

Admittedly, Ipswich were poor, but you can only beat what's in front of you. We looked more in control when in posession of the ball and the tempo was much better. We also had a more incisive option on the right with Low, which stretched the opposition and subsequently led to more chances being created.
The People's Hero Posted 14 August 2006 Posted 14 August 2006 Hammond should play for Ipswich. They seem about his level.
Mort Posted 14 August 2006 Posted 14 August 2006 Moral = Dont get the Observer. The best football coverage in the papers is probably the Times or the Sun, the best sports coverage is the Telegraph just wish there was more football in it (it's football coverage is just as good as the Times but there just isnt as much of it).
Daggers Posted 14 August 2006 Posted 14 August 2006 I rate the Times as well...if only it was so stupidly large nowadays. Just give me the News and the Sports section at a cheaper price and I'll be fine.
