davieG Posted 26 January 2007 Author Posted 26 January 2007 The EC 2008 motto has been revealed:EXPERIENCE EMOTION A bit dodgy, innit? Well at least it can fit most scenarios depending on how well your team does. Quite apt really. We should adopt it for LCFC. Emotions currently in vogue include: Anger, Frustration, Despair, Boredom and many more
davieG Posted 3 June 2007 Author Posted 3 June 2007 It's getting tougher, will the namby pambies getting going. Croatia consolidated their place at the top of Group E with a narrow 1-0 win over Estonia in Tallinn. Eduardo da Silva's first half goal was enough to give Slaven Bilic's side another win in their bid to reach Euro 2008. The in-form striker grabbed the only goal of the game on 32 minutes with a neat turn and finish on the edge of the box. Estonia rallied late on and Ragnar Klavan saw a header tipped over the crossbar by Stipe Pletikosa nine minutes from time. Konstantin Vassiljev went close two minutes later when he saw his shot tipped round the post by Pletikosa as Croatia held on for the win. Russia boosted their qualifying hopes with a comfortable 4-0 win over Group E whipping boys Andorra. Alexander Kerzhakov was the star of the show for Guus Hiddink's side as he helped himself to a hat-trick in the game. The Sevilla striker set Russia on their way with the opener after just eight minutes and he quickly doubled the lead eight minutes later. Kerzhakov completed his treble four minutes from time when he scored from close-range. Dmitry Sychev wrapped up a comfortable day's work for Russia with their fourth goal on 71 minutes to send them three points clear of England. Israel maintained their push for qualification with a 2-1 win in Macedonia. Barach Itzhaki gave Israel the lead on 11 minutes. But their lead proved short-lived as Aco Stojkov drew Macedonia level just two minutes later. Roberto Colautti restored Israel's lead a minute before the break to give them three crucial points in the race to reach Austria and Switzerland next summer. Jonbluefox9 Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Sweden's 5th goal against Iceland tonight was unusual to say the least. An Iceland defender blocked a cross with his arm and thought the ref had given a penalty to Sweden. He casually rolled the ball to a Sweden player who squared it to Marcus Allback and he applied the finish. Sure to be re-shown over and over again on blooper videos.

davieG Posted 13 August 2007 Author Posted 13 August 2007 From Sky Wayne Rooney is facing a spell out after suffering a hairline fracture of his left foot against Reading. The Manchester United striker was injured when Michael Duberry landed on his foot as he attempted to block a 37th minute chance. Although Rooney played on until half-time, he was unable to continue after the break and was replaced by Nani. Sir Alex Ferguson was initially uncertain as to the extent of the injury but Rooney could be out for a while. The 21-year-old was sent to hospital for a scan which has confirmed the hairline fracture. The England international has twice previously broken a metatarsal and his foot problems have continued on the opening weekend of the new season. It is not yet known how long Rooney will be out but his participation in England's upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers is in doubt. Steve McClaren's men play Israel and Russia next month and the England coach already has a number of injury concerns. United also begin their UEFA Champions League campaign in September and could be without Rooney for the start of the group stage. From THe TelegraphWayne Rooney is set to miss England's crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Russia at Wembley next month, and perhaps even the potentially decisive trip to Moscow on Oct 17, after suffering his third serious foot injury in three years during Manchester United's 0-0 draw against Reading yesterday.

A draw will mean we only need a point from the last game.
