Strokes Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 But he doesn't even do that he falls over or wins a corner. Theres plenty of credibility in doing so, you don't have to move one of your best players into unfamilar teritory for one. When Joe Cole's back hopefully all this Lennon nonsence will stop for good. Well is a corner such a bad thing? wasn't the opening goal against Greece a John Terry header form a corner?
lcfc_jme Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Yeah and with England, Downing's lofted balls into the back post are most effective for Crouch. Only if he can keep his arms down and not give away freekicks
Fez of Mahrez Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 How is Gerrard out of position on the left when he's out of position on the right. He'll cut inside all the time anyway. I always though when you cut inside ala Gerrard does its always better to cut inside on your favoured foot. i.e playing on the opposite side How is he out of position on the right? He plays there for Liverpool. Gerrard on the left wing is a bad idea. End of discussion.
Manwell Pablo Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Well is a corner such a bad thing? wasn't the opening goal against Greece a John Terry header form a corner? No, Free kick, followed by head tennis, Awful defending throughout. It's a bad thing when you have the oppurtunity to get the ball into the box there and then. He's not a bad player, he has no end product, and Stephen Gerrard is a much better player!

Everyone knows Gerrard is a better player (TBH I think hes second best in the world behind Ronaldinho) but we're not saying Lennon's better than Gerrard, but he is better than Downing Gerrard wolud be my first name on the teamsheet
Manwell Pablo Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Everyone knows Gerrard is a better player (TBH I think hes second best in the world behind Ronaldinho) but we're not saying Lennon's better than Gerrard but he is better than Downing But then your moving the "2nd best player" in the world to a postion he is totally unfamilar with. Just to accomadate Aaron fooking Lennon.
Tommeh Posted 31 August 2006 Author Posted 31 August 2006 But then your moving the "2nd best player" in the world to a postion he is totally unfamilar with. Just to accomadate Aaron fooking Lennon. Tell you what mate let's leave it all down to Stevie Mac
Manwell Pablo Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Tell you what mate let's leave it all down to Stevie Mac Well I think we all know who he's going to pick.
Tommeh Posted 31 August 2006 Author Posted 31 August 2006 Well I think we all know who he's going to pick. Exactly because he worked with Downing at Middlesborough
lcfc_jme Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 So there's no point speculating, we know who he'll pick and why he'll do it, end of, discussion closed
Tommeh Posted 31 August 2006 Author Posted 31 August 2006 Rio not training today now lookin very doubtful for Saturday. No point in risking him just put Carragher in with JT on ssn
lcfc_jme Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Rio not training today now lookin very doubtful for Saturday. No point in risking him just put Carragher in with JT on ssn Saw the story myself earlier. Seems as though he won't be risked and he'll be re-assessed before the Macedonia game. Gives Carragher another chance to prove what he can do and stake a claim
Master Fox Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 God, Not bloody England again! I couln't give tosh about the national team. Just when we were doing well the crappy internationals are back!
filbertway Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 I'd stick with downing who is a decent out and out left winger and gerrard on the right.
isaidno Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Carragher is out injured. Michael Dawson has been called up instead.
Guest Gist Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Robinson P.Neville Carragher/Rio Terry A.Cole Downing Lampard Hargreaves Gerrard Crouch Bent
Ultra Posted 1 September 2006 Posted 1 September 2006 Carragher's injured. Wes Brown will probably play centre-back.
DaveyJ Posted 1 September 2006 Posted 1 September 2006 Carragher's injured. Wes Brown will probably play centre-back. Or Dawson. Although it seems Wes will get the nod. I don't understand why Phil Neville is playing RB. Fair enough he showed loads of commiment etc leaving his holiday to be on standy-by, but Gary is not going to be around too much longer and Phil is never going to be a long term replacement. Surely it makes sense, when Gary is injured (especially when we're playing Andora!!!), to play a natural RB who has the potential to be the next England Rb; such as Luke Young... or Richard Stearman
Mack Posted 2 September 2006 Posted 2 September 2006 What a non contest this is. I have to say I'm in agreement that these small Nations should have a pre-tournament to see who goies into these groups. This game is just pointles and is doing England or Andorra no favours at all.
