Manwell Pablo Posted 3 September 2006 Posted 3 September 2006 Well he seems to have seen off 10th seed Fernando Gonzalez , current score, 6-3 3-6 2-6 6-3 5-1. Gonzales currently serving. Sounds like a very entertaining game, Gonzalez has smashed a racket to pieces and has been docked a point for smashing a ball out of the stadium! Love him or hate him, reaching the last 16 as flushing meadows is a fantastic achievement for a 19 year old lad.
Nationwider Posted 3 September 2006 Posted 3 September 2006 'Kin 'ell. I don't want the stroppy oik to win Sports Personality of the Year - as he hasn't got one. Fair play to him though - it looks like he could be a serious top 10 player pretty soon.

There is someting about Steve Davis that makes him funny and entertaining though, probabley his lack of personailty! Mansell though, dishwater.

Jay Posted 5 September 2006 Posted 5 September 2006 As previous winners include Nigel Mansell and Steve Davis I would suggest he has every chance then!!! difference is they BOTH won something!!! There was a debate on radio 5 last month about the fact that no sportsperson this year has done anything worthwhile in terms of winning this year

Perhaps they should change the name from sports "personality" of the year.
