Little Nicky Posted 7 December 2004 Posted 7 December 2004 He's certainly capable of playing there. He's very composed on the ball and is excellent going forward. Would be a better option than Makin. 44252 ...but would he be as good as Canero going forward? 44282 Canero is injured at the mo anyway. Well, I assume so So if Stearman proves to be better than Makin, get him in! 44291 It certainly is nice to see that CL believes we need a solid right back, as Makin is a donkey! Canero is a strange one, other that having 'personal problems' I can't see what's up there as there has been no mention of an injury, surely we'd have known if he was injured as we're constantly informed of others' progress in these situations
Ric Flair Posted 7 December 2004 Posted 7 December 2004 I doubt Levein thinks Stearman's best position is right back, but with Canero injured and Makin also a regular menace he possibily needs back-up there. Sounds like he played well, get him in!! Wesolowski has been playing at right back in the reserves recently so he could also fill in, I wonder whether Wesolowski will make it. He hasn't ever really been mentioned by any of the management staff, I know he's only 17 but after such talk when he first arrived there hasn't been the same fascanation since.

Better than Kewell at the same age.

His physique is one of his best attributes as he's only small but he's stocky and he can boss the midfield, I would like to see him as a right midfielder.

'cause how many Australians do you actually know that are genuinely interested and into football (our kind, not theirs!)? Wesolowski is hopefully going to develop into a class player, but now's the time that he should really push on. I seem to recall that he was praised and hailed as one of the academy's big hopes some time back (though it's so unclear in my memory so I can't tell you if that was pre- or post-administration )...
Mad Dog Posted 7 December 2004 Posted 7 December 2004 Porter was our outstanding player yesterday. Looked a cut above everybody else on the pitch
Ric Flair Posted 7 December 2004 Posted 7 December 2004 Did you go the game Mad Dog? That's some distance to travel to watch the ressies, i'm impressed! Wesolowski was signed by Alan Hill our ex-academy director before administration, he was made redundant when we went in to admin. That's a real shame as he was academy director at Leeds before he came to us and is highly regarded as one of the best in england. He bought Wesolowski and Petrescu over here, both with fantastic futures in football. Petrescu has fallen by the waist side, let's hope Wesolowski doesn't do the same. He looks determined to make it. Who played at centre back if Stearman played at right back? Heath and Butcher? Or Heath and Wesolowski?
Mad Dog Posted 7 December 2004 Posted 7 December 2004 No thats from my mate who's at east anglia uni and so went to watch it in norwich. he said that Porter was awesome, and wesolowski was good. He said Wright looked pretty rubbish though.
Scow Posted 7 December 2004 Posted 7 December 2004 I don't know what it is with Wright - He does seem to be a goalscorer, but his general all round play doesn't seem up to scratch when I've seen him. He finds it difficult to hold off defenders and make an impression.

One of the most inspiring performances i'd seen from a little player in ages. The problem is his height, I think managers and coaches are afraid to throw a small player in to the frame and it's stupid as most small players have the quickest feet you'll ever see. He has the skill to make it, but his attitude is a problem. What did your mate think to Stearman and Dawson? Wright bothers me, whenever i've seen him he looks useful. But it seems whenever I don't go the reserve matches he has a shocker.
Ash Posted 7 December 2004 Posted 7 December 2004 I'd much prefer to see Stearman at center back, than right back !
Steven Posted 7 December 2004 Author Posted 7 December 2004 I'd much prefer to see Stearman at center back, than right back ! 44444 If RB is the only position he can get a game in, then I say let him play at RB. :w00t: :w00t:

However I think CL recognises that if Stearman does play RB it is only a fill-in situation and I hope it would not have a long term bad effect on any City career.

A tall skinny player isn't exactly cut out for a long term future at right back but perhaps Levein see's an opportunity to give him a gfew first team games if there is problems with Makin at right back. Having said that Stearman is good on the ball and I could see him being pretty handy wherever he played in defence or midfield. He has played at full back a few times for the youth team, infact I think that was his position he started off at.

Mark Posted 10 December 2004 Posted 10 December 2004 Stearman Heath Sheehan Norvall Maybe? I dont know, as i thought Norvall was a right back
