Jonbluefox9 Posted 23 September 2006 Share Posted 23 September 2006 For anyone that didn't know and would be interested in going, the Academy are playing at home today, 12 pm start. The game will be played at Belvoir Drive, you can park on the car park at Belvoir Drive (if there's space available), watch the game and then carry on to the City centre to do whatever you normally do on a matchday. lookwhaticando Posted 23 September 2006 Share Posted 23 September 2006 That'd send Thracian a huge boost in his campaign for Gradel to be included in our first team squad I wouldn't be surprised at all is Gradel's name was on the scoresheet once or twice (assuming he played). lcfc_jme Posted 23 September 2006 Share Posted 23 September 2006 Neither would I, he seems to score an awful lot for somebody who doesn't play upfront. Has he scored in all but one of the Academy games this time around??

lcfc_jme Posted 23 September 2006 Share Posted 23 September 2006 "Eric Odihambo *(TPH take note)* grabbed his second hat-trick of the season, while Scott Lycett, Max Gradel, Billy McKay, Andy King and Ashley Chambers all chipped in with a goal apiece." lookwhaticando Posted 23 September 2006 Share Posted 23 September 2006 Just incase anyone missed it... Smedley and Mattock both featured in this game. And we kept a clean sheet. Get 'em in the first team.

lcfc_jme Posted 23 September 2006 Share Posted 23 September 2006 As I said, I'd play the whole academy team in place of the first team next time round... Maybe if we get a petition going, and enough of our concerned, unhappy, upset fans sign it, the club will listen to us and actually realise something needs doing, meaning a radical change such as the one you propose will happen. On second thoughts though, I highly doubt it :(
lcfc_jme Posted 23 September 2006 Share Posted 23 September 2006 We could do with some of those in the first team Maybe bring in Odihambo, Gradel, McKay and Chambers. Surely the youthful, passionate injection would lift us and give us something extra
Mark Posted 23 September 2006 Share Posted 23 September 2006 Well played again to those guys. We have one of the best academy set ups in the country now, thats something to be proud of at least. The problem is the key to any successful club who has a great youth academy, is for the tactics to be the same way from academy level, to reserve level, to first team level. Here though, we have to be different and set the first team up almost opposite to that of the academy. Great thinking.

Thracian Posted 23 September 2006 Share Posted 23 September 2006 Eight-nil. Scott Lycett, Max Gradel, Billy Mckay, Eric Odhiambo (3), Andy King and an Ashley Chamber penalty I think. McKay should have a hat-trick missing from two one on one situations and Ashley chambers, a second half substitute, should have had the same. It really could have been 12/14-0 and Cardiff mustered perhaps a couple of worthwhile shots. OdHiambo might have had five and if City need an attacking midfielder who can get in the box and score then Andy King (who I think was on Chelsea's books for several years) looks perfectly competent and he's around six feet tall now. He and Tommy Tejan-Sie dominated midfield and when they kept the ball on the floor and played their one-two's they tore the sluggish Cardiff defence to pieces. They had no answer to the clever feet of Odhiambo and Tommy Wright and, on the day, Gradel was substituted to be eclipsed by various others. Even the defence looked much better than last year's but Odhiambo was man of the match, no question.

Does anyone know whether it's actually OdHiambo or OdiHambo (which the OS seems to think)?

They were asked once for a definitive spelling once - and they do read this forum - but they didn't reply.
