Oh really? I didn't see any. All I remember seeing is their fullback blocking everything he did with ease.

The lad tries hard but is clearly out of his depth.

Still, that's better than NOT trying hard and being out of your depth - as with most of the team.

I think every corrner he took landed on a City head and at least one should have been converted. I counted five direct chances he made. He didn't always want to cross the ball but was left so isolated he never had the option to play a 10 yard pass inside as he have preferred and which would have been far more effective against tall defenders. The city team's failure to provide an outlet ball was adisgrace and was mirrored everywhere. If you doubt the chances he made watch the video if you get the opportunity.

Hughes, Nils, Johnson.....

Er, so at most two "Chosen Men - one of whom is by no means guaranteed a place and has been moved to the right to make space for one of the sparkly youth.

Of whom 5 played. Plus other youths brought in - such as Fryatt - so we have probably the youngest first team on offer in the 4 divisions. And the one that has scored the least. Do you think that there might be a correlation?

Or are there perhaps some invisible 'Chosen Men' out on the pitch who only become visible to those who line their shoes with silver foil? Because otherwise it seems pretty fecking obvious that your basic 'Chosen Men' conspiracy theory is a load of bollox.

That is three Chosen Men/old timers who play regularly. We just cannot afford to have one position that lacks energy/impact/effect let alone three. The combined effect is like playing a man or more short every week. It's just not on and we've had similar problems for months.

Logan 7 good steady debut. can kick a long way but not always with good direction. decent league debut though.

kenton 6 ok. unlucky to be subbed. defensively sound but can't pass out of defense and offers nothing in attack.

nils 3 poor. defensively out of position quite a lot and dreadful distribution.

mc carthy 5 ok in defense but he has to be the worst passer in the side. we cannot build from the back because of his (and others) inability to play simple passes to team mates. hence we go long. also he's supposed to be skipper. wouldn't bloody know it.

mccauley 5 good in the air. not great on the ground. did nothing wrong but didn't shine either.

hughes 1 simply pathetic.

johnson 0.5 had to give him something for turning up to collect his wages. managed 2 passes straight into touch. really a useless signing on present form

weso 2 almost totally invisible. can't think of a single thing he did.

porter 3.5 very very poor. supposed to be winger but never got to the byline. 1 or 2 good crosses but most never got past the defender. his inexperience showed. tried hard but not enough quality today.

fryatt 3 was he playing?

o'grady 3 tried hard when he had the ball. movement off the ball non existent.poor first touch.

stearman 6 not bad.

low 3 really not sure this guy is any better than Syalla and never thought i would say that about any player.

hume 6 did ok but missed a sitter and bottled a challenge with the keeper. at least he lookesd like he cared

Since you so magnificently fail to grasp the point, I'll spell it out: in this season we've seen the number of 'chosen men' go down (now to one and a half), and the number pulled in from the youth team go up (to five) yet the performances seem worse than when we were playing a good half of the team made up of your 'chosen men'...

Time to try a new explanation, since your favoured one is clearly crap.

Not at all. We carried three today. And until we always carry some. Until we stop handicapping ourselves with our team selection and attack with a balanced team we won't win. In all the time Kelly and Levein have been manager I think we've only played really well once and moderately well a handful of times.

Seems a good analysis to me...

Kelly has thrown in a load of youngsters, and the performances have if anything got WORSE! :o:(

Logan - 6 (kept a clean sheeet - the ONLY decent thing to come out of yesterday's display)

Kenton - 5 (was clearly far from fit)

McCarthy - 4 (NOT a good captain - committed a clear foul on Iwelumo late on which only the ref and linesman missed)

McAuley - 4 (VERY nervous - never inspired confidence all afternoon)

Johanson - 2 (complete waste of space as usual)

Hughes - 3 (his attitude was a disgrace)

Johnson - 0 (added NOTHING positive to the team)

Wesolowski - 5 (very disappointing, clearly influenced by Johnson)

Porter - 5 (being dragged down by those around him)

Fryatt - 4 (any talent he once had is rapidly disappearing :(:(:( )

O'Grady - 4 (looks out of his depth at this level)

Low - 4 (see O'Grady)

Stearman - 5 (woefully out of touch)

Hume - 4 (outpaced by a 38-year-old goalkeeper - dreadful!)

A very good point. McCarthy was very lucky to get away with that. Thankfully for us the ref and linesman were even more of a joke than the team.

On the whole though I like our defence, and with McAuley now in the mix with Kenton we at least have options there. Having said that, McCarthy is a disaster waiting to happen if he doesn't start to curb his tendency to shirt pull and hold his opponents in the box.

One of the worst performances I have ever seen from a City side. "Chosen Men", don't make me laugh. Porter, Wesolowski, Fryatt and O'Grady were all in the team and were all absolutely shocking.
