The People's Hero Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 Having sent an email to Peter Jones, he rang me yesterday evening and we had a twenty minute conversation regarding some of my concerns/suggestions etc. I have in the past been quick to criticise aspects of the club... the board/FT etc. Peter Jones however was well informed, quick to get back to me, polite and helpful and genuinely interested. He and people I have dealt with at the ticket office etc have been extremely helpful and a credit to the club.

The People's Hero Posted 27 September 2006 Author Posted 27 September 2006 I don't want to go too deeply in to it and I'm almost certain that a lot of it wouldn't be of much interest - I certainly wouldn't like others to post details of everything I had said on a messageboard. The net result of the conversation is that I was asked to form part of the fans forum or something, which I couldn't do due to the distances involved. I have made a number of suggestions, which Peter liked, largely regarding ways to get more people down to the Walkers and we have left it that we will meet up/talk more in the future.

Sounds very familiar, I could have said exactly the same thing about my conversation with Peter!!!
The People's Hero Posted 27 September 2006 Author Posted 27 September 2006 Sounds very familiar, I could have said exactly the same thing about my conversation with Peter!!! What I found pleasant was that he emailed a reply quickly and called when he said he would. He also never hid behind jargon/buzz-lines/club catchphrases etc. Made me feel better anyway.
Master Fox Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 Sounds very familiar, I could have said exactly the same thing about my conversation with Peter!!! What did you have a conversation about with him Singh if you don't mind me asking?

How did he react to your suggestions that the board were fecking clowns, useless, going to take us down, should be sacked etc.etc.?

He also never hid behind jargon/buzz-lines/club catchphrases etc. Made me feel better anyway. Agreed, he rang me 'out of hours', quite down to earth, said that if I ever wanted a chat or have any ideas, he was always a phone call away etc but after the conversation and alittle time to think, and evaluate I sort of started to question what I though of him, but maybe that's me!!!
The People's Hero Posted 27 September 2006 Author Posted 27 September 2006 How did he react to your suggestions that the board were fecking clowns, useless, going to take us down, should be sacked etc.etc.? Our conversation had nothing to do with those issues.. also, that fairly flippant remark doesn't completely accurate reflect what I think.
Dr The Singh Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 What did you have a conversation about with him Singh if you don't mind me asking? I complained about Filbert fox, and his reluctance to entertain the family stand instead he was in the technical area helping Rob Kelly, from what I saw!!! I also stated that the half time entertainment was rubbish for kids and that we needed binoculars to see the bloody filbert fox! He agreed with me that Filbert should be entertaining the kids and apologised and stated that it will be rectified and actioned immediately. He said if there was any idea's I had to entertain kids at half When I spoke to him we had just won against southend, so things were on the up!! But we spoke about the team, I mentioned that the side and RK's tactics were defensive, he stated that it's a new team, a young team and it will take time etc The conversation lasted about 20 minutes, but he said he is always up for a chat, even if we disagree!!

I could have written those very words myself...lovely people and a credit to the club; it's great to see some people at Citeh doing their job really well and to the best of their ability
The People's Hero Posted 27 September 2006 Author Posted 27 September 2006 Indeed... and let it be known that Disco Bob and TPH are not an easy partnership to impress.

Lester LXXIV Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 The important issues then I suppose it might be if you take the kids to footy often
Jon the Hat Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 The important issues then Yep, if we want people to keep coming to games, and for a new generation of fans to grow up loving the club.
Shipman Out Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 I take kids down and they would be happier if they got to see some good football and a winning team i can tell you that. It shows the inept management of the club to not have the swirrel in front of the kids although they might have a problem with the away fans next to them singing "what the facking hell is that" I hope the board concerntrate on this issue im sure hundreds of kids will grow up loud and proud Leicester fans because the fox danced and waved at half time 10 metres away instead of twenty. We lost 3-0 but boy can that fox dance and wave

Ultra Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 Our conversation had nothing to do with those issues.. also, that fairly flippant remark doesn't completely accurate reflect what I think. Indeed not. Did you ask him how he'd feel working for Mandaric?
The People's Hero Posted 27 September 2006 Author Posted 27 September 2006 Indeed not. Did you ask him how he'd feel working for Mandaric? I did mention Mandaric to see how he felt about it and to see if he had any clues as to how the board might feel about it. He wasn't giving much away, don't think there has been any contact yet. I suppose Mandaric only left Portsmouth very recently so it's a wait and see job. I realise that your question was regarding how he'd feel working for Mandaric - no I did not ask him that.

It is highly unlikely that if i phoned up to say that I thought the team was a disgrace and gave a 10 point action plan on what i expect to be done differently at the next game etc, the club would act on it. I would be disappointed if they did, to be fair.

When these extend to us being crap on the pitch, that is obviously something which is not Jones' department.
