holly Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 In our case it is ah well everyone is titled to there own opinion and i dont agree that change for us is for the better, i may well eat my words later on but heyho
lcfc_jme Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 change isnt always for the better! Agreed. Change can be a bad thing as well, as has been proven time and time again in the past. Fair enough I think the RK saga shouldn't go on anywhere as near as the CL saga, 'cos we'd really struggle to rectify it this time and I think it'd be beyond us, but getting rid of RK now doesn't seem like the right plan of action. I said he should have until 15 games to prove he's got what it takes and that's what I'll stick to. If it's still bad after 15, then I'll jump on the Kelly out bandgwagon (providing the board haven't got rid before hand), as I'm being fair and not going back on myself
The People's Hero Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Oh great. The joys of being a mod. Merge/Delete it and get 140 angry pms. Or leave it?

Maybes Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Give him until the 15 game mark as I have stated before. He is only on a one year deal so that is soo bad. Nigel Worthington joke
Janx Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Whats the point though Im sure Kelly thought when he started the season that with his squad he would be aiming for higher than last season's position.. I DIDNT expect us to go up... Im sure some slightly bonkers people did... BUT I am sure we all think that only IMPROVEMENT is acceptable, on current form we will have 40 ish points end of season.. Can the statos tell me if that means we will be in the top half? If not then CHANGE IT!!
wirralsimon Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Switching manangers every time we hit a bad patch isn't the answer. Look at it again nearer Christmas. Simon

You need well in excess of 55 points to be top-half. That's an optimistic estimate, too.

Can the statos tell me if that means we will be in the top half? If not then CHANGE IT!! No we wouldn't. If we ended up on 40 points by the end of the season, we'd finish outside the top half, because the teams at mid-table and above are going at a rate of 1 and a half points per game, and that means, based on that rate, they'd finish on around 60 points or more for the season, some 20 points (nearly 7 wins) more than us.
I_miss_wembley_finals Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Ok, so lets assume that sacking RK is the way to go (I don't agree that he should go yet but that is another issue). What would we do to replace him though? No-one else wanted the job last time, what has changed? Purely hypothetical maybe, but change for the sake of change is surely not worth it? And with this board do you think there is visionary capability to: a) decide upon the best course of action b) act upon it with vigour and conviction, and c) make the necessary overhaul of the club work at the same time as bringing in a new manager? I just wonder whether perseverance is the best approach, at least for another 5 games or so as has been suggested.

I hear Nigel Worthington's on the market in a couple of months time, after he's been recharged.
The People's Hero Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Part of the problem is that very few people have confidence in the board to make a better appointment this time round. Having read some articles in the press etc which have come out over time about the process last time around, I share those concerns. RK just isn't doing it though. I'm not sure where we go from here. A new man would need to instill discipline and confidence and stamp his ideas on the present squad fast. It is VERY unlikely that transfer funds would be available.

The more I think about it I am supporting the 'more time' arguement probably because of my lack of confidence in the board to make the right decisions, and the lack of managers who are out there (and would want to come) that could turn us initially into a stable championship club, only then can we start dreaming about the playoffs again.
teblin Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 To some extent Rob Kellys hands are tied. We are the only club in the division not to have paid out a transfer fee at all, this season. He wants to sign another striker but can't, we all thought Fryatt would scored goas he hasn't. He would sign a midfielder but can't not sure he could've got much better than johnson on a free,. Not sure he is the answer either but i think he is the manager at probabley the hardest time in the clubs history. I know adams had to deal administration but he had a good side to get him through it. And who would you get instead?
ithuriel Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 were stuck between a rob kelly and a hard place were hoping kelly can turn things around simply because the board is so inept , if he doesnt were screwed. we all saw the abortion that was the board appointing a new manager last season after sacking levein at too late a stage , in january wasnt it? i remember going to the xmas and new year games and sitting suffering with the flu at the norwich game thinking we would be playing in the first division after a miserable match. i say give kelly until the end of october , no major improvement then he should go or get somebody in to help him. one thing that cant be allowed to happen is that we just carry on hoping things will get better and praying because if god liked us forest would be a conference club by now.
