So's my grandmother! bUt how Wright-Phillips emphasised my point about taking people on against a massed defence and causing havoc. He waltzed through the defence - finishmed clear in the centre of goal and coped out of the responsibility for shooting (when completely clear) by passing wide. England - over coached and over systemised. It makes them predictable and wastes the talents of the players. Rooney wasn't great but taking him off for Defoe was ridiculous. We should have increased the strike force, not gone like for like. And we should have done that from the start, not played possession rubbish for one half.

So much for the potential change to a 3-5-2 - to be honest, I thought that was just a hilarious rumour. We never do anything bold like change the formation. It's funny how the 'Golden Boy' was back in action and it's the first game we haven't scored in yet... hmmmm. Gerrard should be installed in the middle in an attacking role... Lampard dropped from the starting 11. (Shame Gerrard won't be playing at all on Wednesday, I dread to think how poor we'll be with Lampard in the middle and no Gerrard). Downing isn't up to it. Rooney's way off form. Why don't we do something really bold, and drop the players who aint performing. Drop Lampard. Drop Downing. Drop Rooney. Play Parker not Carrick - he might as well get given a run out if we're gonna change things around.

Sort it out McLaren! Downing has been in because McLaren knows him from middlesborough and after that performance steve should realise that Downing is simply not up to it at international level.

Glad actually... wouldn't want to pay $25 (12 quid) to watch that shower ... on TV no less! I fail to see how anyone could be impressed, form an England perspective, by a 0-0 draw with Macedonia! The scoreline says it all - nothing at all! I didn't even have to watch the performance to know it was crap - no offence to Macedonia, they should have been beaten. I think Rooney's bad luck at the minute. He's been crap so far this season, really. Lampard has been useless for England since just before the World Cup and hasn't recovered yet. Drop him, let him get over himself and perhaps he'll be worthy of the shirt. I like Gerrard, I think he's quality, and yes he's decent on the right - but I feel putting him there just to accomodate Lampard in the 11 isn't right. It's a waste of his ability, just to accomodate a player who's done sweet FA for England in recent months. Stick Wright-Phillips on the right (as much as I think he doesn't actually deserve it, you know, since he played about 6 minutes of football last season, and probably only a little more so far this season) and replace Lampard with Gerrard. Do something different, because somewhere it's not working properly. It's broken - fix it.
