Steven Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 Connolly and Makin out injured, replaced by Stearman and Blake. Taylor Stearman Dublin Dabizas Stewart Joey Nalis Gemmill Gillespie Blake Scowcroft Subs Benjamin Morris Keown Tiatto Williams
Ricey Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 Delighted to see Stearman in but I would sooner of had Morris or Benjamin in for Connolly.
Steven Posted 11 December 2004 Author Posted 11 December 2004 HT 0-0 Pressing Reading very hard in the last 10 mins before HT. Blake hit the post and had one cleared off the line.
Steven Posted 11 December 2004 Author Posted 11 December 2004 The atmosphere sounds awful 45806[/snapback] You could hear some cheering from the crowd on the radio when Stearman had done some good covering work.
Steven Posted 11 December 2004 Author Posted 11 December 2004 Good one handed save from a Reading free kick by Taylor.
Macca4lcfc Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 blake hit post and hd one cleared off the line. Must have caught the same thing as connolly! bet people still slaughter him tonight

Anish Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 Pathetic performance - we went back to the way we played under Adams. It was disgusting at times, it really was. There were soo many things wrong with the performance that you could write an essay on it - but I have to say Scowcroft was truly shocking - worst performance from him in years, probably his worst for the club. He was a complete waste of space, much worse than Blake who did reasonably well. Stearman was solid and made a magnificent last-ditch tackle to save one of Dublin's cock-ups.
Mark Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 No movement. No pace. No ideas. No hope. No Entertainment. And that was typical Scowcroft Anish, its about time some people took notice. Stearman was the only good performer, Gillespie was ok too, but he'll probably be dropped for Makin when he returns.
Anish Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 Keith Gillespie was awesome - he was our best player by miles. Looked great running at defenders and got some great crosses in (esp the one that Blake headed against the post) and he worked really hard. Simply superb.
davieG Posted 11 December 2004 Posted 11 December 2004 Observations on how low we have sunk. Mass exodus with ten minutes to go and 2-0 down - that would never have happened under MON. Ironically, considering his catch phrase there couldn't have been more people losing the faith under MAs Our attack is sooooooooooooooooooooooo poor that people (no offence intended to them) were callling for Benji By the way the set up for their first goal was so obvious you could have seen it in Reading :w00t: , so why couldn't the players?

He said something like "Stearman has shown that he can be called upon when Makin and Canero are injured, and today's game will have served him with confidence"

Loyal supporters stick with the team even if they are 2-0 down. It was a huge disappointment. What will the players think when they see a mass exodus with 10 minutes remaining? And you're right about the first Reading goal - we had EVERY SINGLE player camped in our own penalty area for their free kick but none of them had the intelligence to pick up the man on the edge of the area. That was piss poor.

But why oh why didn't any of the players see sense to mark the man on the edge of the area?
