lookwhaticando Posted 26 October 2006 Posted 26 October 2006 Just downloaded Firefox 2.0 since it was release yesterday or whatever. So far things are going well. Shame my favourite themes aren't yet available. Anyone else got 2.0 yet? Did you even know it was out? Discuss!
lookwhaticando Posted 26 October 2006 Author Posted 26 October 2006 Well that was funny. Firefox 2.0 has a spell-checker function when you type in text fields such as the ones you encounter when trying to post a topic! I only found that out because the US dictionary was set as default, so it took exception to a couple of words. I tried typing words wrong to see if it really was a spell-checker or something else. Try it, kids!
Ryanside Posted 26 October 2006 Posted 26 October 2006 have to use IE at work but am using firefox 2 at home, best feature is where u can re-load tabs you've accidently closed, genius!!
lookwhaticando Posted 26 October 2006 Author Posted 26 October 2006 huh what is it? Better than Internet Explorer. 'nuff said.
Jon the Hat Posted 26 October 2006 Posted 26 October 2006 Better than Internet Explorer. 'nuff said. Banging nails through your hands is better than internet explorer. Probably
Phube Posted 26 October 2006 Posted 26 October 2006 I've used Opera and Firefox, and to be honest I thought they were a bit pants!! I'm just an IE guy through and through!!! (Version 7 though!)
Phube Posted 26 October 2006 Posted 26 October 2006 And another thing. Can somebody give me 3 'good' reasons to use Firefox!
Suffolk_fox Posted 26 October 2006 Posted 26 October 2006 And another thing. Can somebody give me 3 'good' reasons to use Firefox! 1) It is quicker than IE 2) It is far more secure than IE 3) It is not made by Microsoft.....
MC Prussian Posted 26 October 2006 Posted 26 October 2006 I absolutely LOVE FF 2.0, looks neat, has great add-ons (try FoxyTunes!) and is by far more secure and faster than IE...
lookwhaticando Posted 26 October 2006 Author Posted 26 October 2006 I'm a mozilla fan, and have been for a while! Used to like the fully blown Mozilla browser package... but I got frustrated with it as it took an age to load if you didn't pre-load it at startup. So, I went back to IE6 until I heard about Firefox. I downloaded it near the end of the 0.7 technology preview cycle... 0.8 was quickly released and I grabbed that. I've been a Firefox user ever since.
Daggers Posted 27 October 2006 Posted 27 October 2006 * The good: Firefox 2 adds built-in antiphishing protection, search engine suggestions, session restore, inline spell-checking, and Live Titles; the browser is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux; localized versions available in many different languages. * The bad: The Firefox 2 uninstall leaves behind a mess; some 1.5 version add-ons will break in 2.0; there are no thumbnail previews of open tabs; the browser doesn't yet pass the Web Standards Project Acid2 test. * The bottom line: Mozilla Firefox 2 is a winner, beating Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 on security, features, and overall cool factor and deserving our Editors' Choice award. source
