Katy Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 What time does she get home? You could chop some onions, garlic etc to get started? Always good to add to meat/meat substitutes He's already made it Cis. This thread has inspired me to change what I was originally planning on having and make quorn spag bol instead
cisono Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 ANy meat is good, but cooking lamb\chicken\pork is slightly different though, and the texture and composition of the curry is different!! Take away, curry is very fattening, but home cooked can be quite healthy, although a proper curry does take around 2-3 hours to make!!! Why is takeaway curry so fattening, is it because they add lots of fat to it to please the British palate? What about restaurant curry? I always prefer making my own curries at home. One day I might learn how to make them in a more "authentic" way. Hey, the Singh, are you giving curry-making lessons?

The British love to add fatty meats and cream to curries. I like fish curry.
Daggers Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 Pay as you go fuel doesn't really work; if you live out in the sticks and have to drive your precious little ones to school every day, even in an economical car, you might end up paying more tax than the lazy arsed cows who drive their Chelsea tractors the 200yds to school Car sharing? Plus, to my knowledge, schools in the sticks operate bus services for the little ones.
lookwhaticando Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 The British love to add fatty meats and cream to curries. I like fish curry. That sounds terrible. The fishy one that is.
cisono Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 The British love to add fatty meats and cream to curries. I like fish curry. You should go to Goa then!
cisono Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 This thread has inspired me to change what I was originally planning on having and make quorn spag bol instead Enjoy!
lookwhaticando Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 You should go to Goa then! He certainly likes Goa. Ooooh she were a bit of a Goa. Coat retrieved! ... exit stage left.
The People's Hero Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 You should go to Goa then! I like to make my own. Unfortunately it's only ever for me as my mum, sister, girlfriend don't like curry so to be honest I rarely make the effort. Half the fun in cooking/eating is the conviviality.
Katy Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 Car sharing? Plus, to my knowledge, schools in the sticks operate bus services for the little ones. Yes, when my little one starts school next year she will be eligable for being taken by bus Enjoy! Thanks I like to make my own. Unfortunately it's only ever for me as my mum, sister, girlfriend don't like curry so to be honest I rarely make the effort. Half the fun in cooking/eating is the conviviality. Very true
Janx Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 When Fish curry is mentioned, wverybody thinks of fish heads and stinking of fish like some kind of bouillabase, but its not, its usually monkfish which is a nice chunky fish, often dry and breaded its fecktangingly gorgenoshus!

If that is what you like, I suggest moving to sunnier climates...

Always good to add to meat/meat substitutes It's already made, all I have to do is pop it in the oven! I may just go down the pub I've just realised my local opened 20 minutes ago

Half the fun in cooking/eating is the conviviality. We make our own; I don't trust anything in jars, as a general rule (meaning there are exceptions, peeps ). I also am not a fan of the curry being a supertaster. However, I do like the homemade ones I made up. I use coriander, ginger, a bit of cumin and a smattering of garlic. If you add it to some meat and veg it's quite tasty. To make it even more 'girl-friendly', I add some coconut cream stuff and ground almonds. Yummy. The best thing is, with Carl's serving I add some chilli powder to pep it up. You could try that Jimbo?

Guest Posted 5 November 2006 Posted 5 November 2006 Sounds similar to what I do It's not rocket science. Good job, as I don't like the taste of kerosene.
lookwhaticando Posted 5 November 2006 Posted 5 November 2006 I think this line of discussion needs removing from this topic and made into a topic in its own right. It's only fair to those who want to discuss curry, and those who wish to discuss gas guzzling.
