Anish Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 Any significance in the absence of an Arsenal player ? 48836 Should we be surprised? All their youngsters are foreigners.
FNQ Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 It sounds like he is not at all impressed with our youth players. Have you ever thought that perhaps he and Micky are right and that they are not good enough?

Have you ever thought that perhaps he and Micky are right and that they are not good enough? 49050 Well considering I've been to quite a few reserves matches, I would say they are good enough.

But i was replying to "Have you ever thought that perhaps he and Micky are right and that they are not good enough?" No i haven't thought that because i and others have seen enough to not think it. I remember you from Talking Balls, you couldnt stand any talk about youth. Were you there for Stearman's debut? What were your thoughts? Should he never play again?
davieG Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 FNQ "It sounds like he is not at all impressed with our youth players." What's this all about or have I misinterpreted this: CL's Quote "When I arrived, Richard Stearman was one they all talked about and we see him more as a full-back than centre-back where he is less likely to be out-muscled. He is certainly a good user of the ball, he has got potential. "Stephen Dawson has been in and around the squad because we like his attitude, he is a bit of a terrier, and Alan Sheehan, a left-back, has done quite well. "As we start to look and recognise a bit more we see more there to work with. "What we need to do now is try to focus our attention on these lads and try to improve them. So apart From Stearman, Dawson and Sheehan he reckons there maybe more.
FNQ Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 I thought he played pretty well first half. No way was he man of the match, second half he made several mistakes. I don't think he should play ahead of Makin or Canero, no.

He was certainly motm, shown too by the average ratings of the player ratings for that match. Have you seen Makin play? He has been awful.

These three I have mentioned are below Jordan Stewart's age of 22 and that is not a lot for a club this size†"At the moment, it was more through necessity that Stearman played rather than us thinking he was desperately knocking at the door ready to play.†It’s hardly very positive is it.

davieG Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 Well I'll assume from what he's saying that, first of all he hasn't had the time to assess them all secondly I'm sure he believes that we have a bigger problem and derth of players aged 24 to 27 than problems at 17,18,19 age group. I'll consider the glass to be half full, you can drink out of your half empty one if you like.
FNQ Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 Banging on about Youth is so negative. Some people just constantly knock the first team, and they use youth as a way to criticise, saying they would do a better job.

I can't just sit and accept what i'm watching like you. It's horrible, it has been for years, the players are boring, no wonder we have few songs to sing. I'll always go, i just hope things will change one day. Whether it'll be in my lifetime or not, who knows.
FNQ Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 Petrecu - If you think we have a abundance of young player with potential at the club, why do you have that quote from Levein saying the opposite?
Mark Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 Petrecu - If you think we have a abundance of young player with potential at the club, why do you have that quote from Levein saying the opposite? 49071 It's pretty obvious when you look at the first team squad there is no youth. He said that when we reveiled him as manager so hopefully he'll get on with sorting it out, beware FNQ

jon4001 Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 i've heard from aaraon butcher that adams never went to any youth or reserve games and generally didn't give two hoots about any of the youth players at city. Part of the reason why petrescu left apparently
Mad Dog Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 Christ, the fact that what, 5 of our youth team players in the last 15 years have made the grade at Premiership level, should tell you that our academy is a load of shit? It's not just because the managers won't pick the young players? I know it's a cheap and easy way to knock the first team, and that's all most of you are interested in doing, but it's so old and boring now.
MON Posted 25 December 2004 Posted 25 December 2004 I always think that if the young players are good enough and want it enough it would be almost impossible for the manager to leave them out.
