IDEA OR IKEA Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 Just seen this as breaking news on sky for fielding an illegible player... Thats it the FA Cup is ruined, there is no value in it now. Its like when Man United decided not to enter. How can anyone call themselves champions knowing theat the competition did not have Bury in....shocking
Guest Gist Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 I didn't think this would be the sort of punishment they would receive, I think it's quite harsh. Who will replace them?
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 I didn't think this would be the sort of punishment they would receive, I think it's quite harsh. Who will replace them? Chester City.
Filbert_Ross Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 chester are back in to face Ipswich subject to Bury appealing.
Guest Gist Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 whos back in then?? Well they beat Chester I think in the last round, maybe they will?
RowlattsFox Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 is fielding an illegiable player worse than what leeds done?
Filbert_Ross Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 is fielding an illegiable player worse than what leeds done? i think so, leeds only named to many loan players in a match squad, they all didnt play.
hairy Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 I know its two different governing bodies but FilthyscumLeeds get fined £1k for too many loan players and Bury get kicked out the cup for a similar offence. Cant we get filthyscumLeeds kicked out the League? Yes they names too many but either they played or were on the bench
Joe. Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 The FA gone mad AGAIN. Bloody Leeds get away with the same offence.... What the hell is wrong with these people?
vanfox12 Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 The FA gone mad AGAIN. Bloody Leeds get away with the same offence.... What the hell is wrong with these people? Some cretin e-mailed 606 on radio five on Wednesday to say that the punishment was correct and that their manager Chris Casper should shut up and stop moaning. The fact is Bury held their hands up and admitted they made a mistake, how many bigger clubs would admit to that i wonder?

The fact is Bury held their hands up and admitted they made a mistake, how many bigger clubs would admit to that i wonder? Well they have a point, it would be unfair on Chester if Bury still went through. Imagine the uproar on here if Fulham fielded an ineligible player against us but still went through. Managers should read the rules before they make decisions. As for the punishment handed out to Leeds, it is a total disgrace that they have gotten off pretty much scot free.
vanfox12 Posted 24 December 2006 Posted 24 December 2006 In fairness we should have got a 10 point deduction for going into administration but we didn't.
Joe. Posted 24 December 2006 Posted 24 December 2006 In fairness we should have got a 10 point deduction for going into administration but we didn't. We shouldn't have really because the rule wasn't in place then.
potter3 Posted 24 December 2006 Posted 24 December 2006 And correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't we have come second even with a points deduction? Because we were 11 or 12 points ahead of 3rd place.
Random Burglar Posted 25 December 2006 Posted 25 December 2006 My Grandad was on the committee that is dealing with the case. They have been granted an appeal. The reason he was illegible was because they different have special dispensation from his club Hartlepool allowing him to play in cup competitions.
Brummie-FOX Posted 25 December 2006 Posted 25 December 2006 How is it the same? Bury fielded an ineligible player in a CUP competition. Leeds fielded too many loan players in a LEAGUE match. Id like to see more done to Leeds if Bury get a punishment like that but if they field an ineligble player in a cup match then thats probably what they deserve.

Filbert_Ross Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 whats harsh about all this, is that Hartlepool said he could play in the match because they had been knocked out the cup but the official paperwork hadnt been sorted, yet West Ham a few years back bought on a sub on in the cup who had been out on loan to a lower league team and had played in the early rounds of the cup and was therefore 'cup tied' the game only got replayed.
Filbert_Ross Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 correcting myself here, the cup tied player hadnt been on loan , he was signed from Barnet and had already played for them in the cup.
lcfc_jme Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Hadn't Bury got proof another team had done exactly the same as them but weren't kicked out of the competition? Or is this just a random story? Either way it's quite a harsh punishment seeing as they had the permission to play the lad in the match but didn't have all of the paperwork.

Didn't West Ham do it ages ago? What was their punishment?
lcfc_jme Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Didn't West Ham do it ages ago? What was their punishment? Ermm not sure, did West Ham do it ages ago? What was their punishment? And anyways, they weren't the questions I asked! Answer mine before you ask me your own
