Leicester Lass Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 I'm the stalker here thank you very much. God help me.
Head Honcho Posted 29 December 2006 Author Posted 29 December 2006 Thing is when Saddam was in charge, there was less crime in Iraq. Look at the place now. Don't hang him, if he needs to die, chuck him in a small room for the rest of his life with no door, no window, food or water, nothing but a small and smelly bed with his razor, and let him live a long and painful death. Don't kid yourself! Saddam and his sons were above the law, his sons have paid their price already he will pay his soon. It's the hypocracy that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I've always been in favour of the invasion but as leader of his country shouldn't he have been immune from prosecution for any crimes committed whilst in power? This is not my view, I'm just asking the question, as I don't remember Pinochet or Amin being tried once they had lost power.
Brummie-FOX Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 Well I joined 606 before you I joined in August 05*. I lied about my age on there but I got banned for saying ‘P!$$ Off’ to somebody. I would have made an account on FT but I thought there would be an age limit. Turns out there wasn’t so here I am..
Daggers Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 I would have made an account on FT but I thought there would be an age limit. Turns out there wasn’t so here I am.. There's our first positive suggestion for improving the site then

Brummie-FOX Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 Its just when I got banned, I still read the forum. All of a sudden (AFTER ME) somebody called Leicester Lass started posting <_<
Libertine Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 I think we can all agree that 606 is whackety whack whack. Now let's get back on topic.

Head Honcho Posted 29 December 2006 Author Posted 29 December 2006 pinochet gave up power voluntarily and idi amin fled to saudi arabia if i remember right. hardly the same. I beg to differ. Pinochet had no choice but to relinquish power it wasn't exactly voluntary!
securedfox Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Apparently he was hung today about 3am. For me it's a case of good riddance. But do you think there will be a backlash to this, whether in this country or elsewhere!
Lemon Harpic Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Apparently he was hung today about 3am. For me it's a case of good riddance. But do you think there will be a backlash to this, whether in this country or elsewhere! I cannot imagine an Iraqi sitting in his armchair thinking to himself 'Y'know, these Americans aren't so bad. What's that? They killed Saddam? Right, where's the semtex?'. Saddam's hanging will not affect the death rate in Iraq one iota. Perhaps some people will use it as an excuse, but they would have killed and bombed anyway. As for the effect in this country, some Muslims will be vexed, a bit, but most won't.

Yeah thinking same lines as you really. If his supporters do anything,it's what they would have done anyway.
Rincewind Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Didn't realise they were going to do it so soon. Bit wierd really. The news came over on Heart and after the bulletin everything went on as normal and the first record they played was Can You Feel it? I immediately thought of the hangman's noose around Sadams neck. Maybe the sentence was carried out quick because it was thought that if it dragged on he might die of natual causes or be bumped off or by his own doing. They (I'm thinking of Americans for some reason) would not then be able to say justice was carried out.
securedfox Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 One thought though is, that no one can hi-jack a plane and demand his release.

Alexikokopops Posted 30 December 2006 Posted 30 December 2006 Surely this thread should be "Saddam hanged". It's hung when referring to another use of the verb "to hang" but if you're referring to a person being suspended round the neck then it's hanged.
