Daggers Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 It's the biggie for New Years resolutions - along with losing weight and getting fit. I'm cool with people smoking as long as they don't blow it in my face although I am looking forward to the ban on smoking in pubs later this year...I'm glad I gave up a couple of years back. This year my resolution is to get a job.
Tommeh Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Ban it unless its in your own home I can't stand it went on a bus this morning and this girl of about 16 lights up. she was chocking half the bus to death and it simply is not on. Can't even walk into a shop these days with out some Tw*t smoking in the door!!
Cobbo Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 To not have resolutions. And maybe become a gorilla.
lookwhaticando Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Never smoked. Ban it from public places. Makes sense. Over here, you can't smoke 3 meters from a public entrance (a common habit in the dead of winter, it's warmer near a door that opens every couple of minutes) even. Pubs and clubs too. Pretty reasonable system, I reckon. I don't mind smokers at a distance from me - after all, their tax revenue is handy.
lcfc_jme Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Never have smoked and never intend to. And it should be banned from all public buildings methinks. Not fair to choke people on cigarette smoke (or in some cases even fookin weed fumes on the way to college) everyday.
Thracian Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Smoking is totally obnoxious. It's like being next to someone eating shit sandwiches and you can't go near your clothes again til you get em washed.
Guest Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I have no sympathy for most smokers. Most take selfishness to the extreme, and make it hard on the minority who actually don't want to inflict their habit on anyone else, because people like me tarnish them all with the same brush.
De Vries The King Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Absolutely detest it!!! Disgusting habit IMO. Ban it
Daggers Posted 2 January 2007 Author Posted 2 January 2007 Well, as the only ex-smoker here so far...I'm amazed. I thought it was folks like me that should be the virulent ones?
Joe. Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I can't stand smoking. It's the most pointless thing on the planet. Why pay a lot money to kill yourself? People have to have more self control. Lives are ruined by it and it is so pointless its unbelieveable. It's not cool to do it and people need to back out of it if pressurised to do it. <_<
Leicester's 12th Man Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I don't smoke so its smoking in private homes only for me
Floating Fox Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 T'is far worse Abroad Not that it makes it any better
Nationwider Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I've never smoked. I'd ban it from public buildings, but not outright. I can't believe so many kids still get into smoking these days - how can it possibly be perceived as being cool? You smell. It costs a fortune. You get really horrible diseases from it. Have a word, Douglas Hurd!

Have a word, Douglas Hurd! Some kids learn off parents who smoke - since a lot of parents still smoke. The kids taught by parents now spread it to other kids by peer pressure means... it's basically a chainsmoking reaction.
Bert Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 If people want to smoke then more fool them. I don't care whether it gets banned or not, people are still going to break the rules aren't they? I mean what's gonna happen if they smoke in a pub? They'll get thrown out, wow. At least they'll get the chance to light back up on their way to the next pub.

I suppose it's just nature's way, survival of the fittest (least daft). Make the feckers pay for their own hospital treatment though.

Cigarettes don't kill people, smokers do.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Cigarettes are bain of my existence. I can't agree with those that say they hate it and thinks it's disgusting, I'm weird, I like the smell of petrol fumes and bonfires and I like the smell of cigarettes, I always have done since a early age. I started to annoy my parents as they were splitting up. They both hate it, my Dad was a ex-smoker turned Marathon runner and now can't smoking. My 15 year old mentality for you. It's easy for people who have never smoked to say people should have more self control it's not that simple, you don't know what it's like. Great you were never stupid enough to try it bully for you it's a bit late for me so that’s beside the point. When your smoking 20 cigarettes a day you can't just stop. I'd say having something like the Flu or Gastroenteritis when giving up is a god send as it's so much more pleasant then the first 3 or 4 days without a fag. You can't sleep, you can't sit still, you feel inhuman, and it can all go away with just one fag. I managed to jack it in for about 4 months last year and was stupid enough to think I could go back to smoking when pissed up and when pissed up only, since then I've been doing it on and off (I've only had one Marlboro light this year, yay me) which is improvement on my student days but I'm still hoping I can find the motivation to have another serious go at it some time before March 8th (National non-smoking day) I personally think it should be banned completely, why sell something that’s designed to get you hooked on poison, just for a bit of tax? priorities, sums this country up. However I will take a ban in public places, if it weren't for pubs and clubs being smoky environments I wouldn't of ever gone back to it, TBH I'd struggle to notice cigarettes existed if it weren't for pubs.
Zingari Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 i cant stand smoking or drinking .......i sit down
