Low sold to Peterborough

I'm over the moon. This is fooking great news :D Not only have we got rid of a disgracefully bad player, but we've made a bit of money off of him as well!!! Mini celebration time methinks :P:banana::dance::banana::dance:

Reminds me of when we sold Lee Marshall to West Brom for £700k, amazingly more than we paid for him originally.

I was quite surprised he didn't make it ...

I'm trying to do the 92, and as a result have watched a lot of lower league football. He was a player I was expecting more from. It was harsh the reaction he got from the crowd though. I'm not afraid to moan about the team, but I'd never do it during a match!

Still - he was crap, and he's gone...

Yey about time and all. So whose coming in?? I guess no one :dunno:

Spot on.

To bring someone else in will need a big sale - 250k or more at least.

Even then it's probably dependent upon Mandaric taking control. Otherwise that 250k would be deployed as a plug.

Yep that's the cost of a plug for a black hole!

Kelly's done well to get £100k for him, a player who deep down I think Rob always knew was going to be a risk that either fell flat on its face or flourished. Unfortunately for all parties it didn't work but at least Kelly hasn't been stubborn and tried to pretend that Low is good enough for this level when he quite clearly isn't. Also good of Low to have accepted that it was a jump too big too soon for him or maybe ever for him to make, especially at his age.

You can tell we live in the Championship Manager generation judging by the reactions to this on here.

Which part of 'could rise to 100k' guarentees us 100k? We'll be lucky to see half that and even if we saw the full amount we're still out of pocket on the useless piece of footballing turd.

Yeah great business Rob, you are a football genius

I know what, this thread has generated more comment on Josh Low than ever his football did.

It's not just the potential fee, it's the wasted wages we'll be saving.

As I've said in another thread, we need more quality and less quantity in our squad.

I'm not for a moment suggesting Low was a problem but having too many inactive players around a club is never healthy for morale.

Posh are just being silly with all this money on players. KA will be sack if posh don't start winning soon aswell, then posh will have to pay rest of his contract up aswell. lol

Also: The superimps beat the posh 2-1

good deal as leicester signed him on a free.

I think it's a good move for him - he obviously had qualities (not including tackling) that we didn't see the best of during his time at City, that he had playing for Northampton.

Posh are up and commers and I think he will enjoy the challenge of doing something similar for them as what he helped Northampton to do.

Yup - his socks pulling up skills - they were sorely missed...as was his ability to run, take on players and provide plenty of crosses. Include his inability to head, pass or tackle and you are left with...err...a librarian in this case.

One of our most useless players ever? It has my money.

He's not a complete testicle, just wasn't fit for this division.

My point is he made a contribution at NTFC that left many fans sorry to see him go. That same is evidently not the case here at LCFC

I just hope for Posh's sake that he isn't a waste of their money...if he sees his days out as a league 1 or 2 player then so be it. We all have our place to fill in this mad universe..hopefully he has found his and can produce some cheer for the fans.

Heh, interesting that he went to Posh, NTFC fans are spewing :P

Less quantity? We haven't really got that big a squad at the moment, a couple of injuries and we're shafted. Presently we are having to play youngsters who have relatively little experience, when they should be learnnig the ropes playng more reserve football so although they are playing 1st team footie I personally do not consider them 1st team regulars and thus should not be included in the squad numbers. On that basis I reckon we have a squad of 19 (inc deep freeze). I agree about the quality though, we do need to bring in some players who can actually play a bit of football and help us crawl up this division. :appl:

I dont understand why people are slating Low?

At the start of the season everyone was going on about how good he was when he came off the bench and how at times he looked our best player... I haven't been to a city match for a few months now but what has changed from him being rated as a lively player by city fans to being booed off the pitch and saying good riddance to him? :dunno:

The answer is "seeing him play"

He has been dreadful - seriously dreadful. I am pushed to think of anyone less equipped to join a team on a pitch.

I've also failed to see why people slagged him off so much, but I've been working Saturdays since October and last saw him play against Southampton and Villa (yes, I know, but we didn't sign him as a defender). Had he really gotten that much worse that people were seriously saying he was worse than Lee Marshall or Junior Lewis?

He was shocking, couldn't control it, couldn't head it, couldn't do anything. Amazed someone still wanted him tbh.

Did you not know of his record at that level? Tbh, if I were a manager at that level, I'd probably want him in my team, as he is more than comfortable down there and does a job. This standard was too high for him and he definitely struggled to adapt. Which means any team he plays in is fooked when they win promotion to this level!!

I do know of his record at that level. But surely going up two leagues doesn't make you incapable of controlling the ball, heading the ball, doing anything with the ball.

Firstly, the Championship is played at a different pace to lower division football. That's not to say it's necessarily quicker in general but possession tends to change sides a lot more frequently because of the players' inferior ball control and passing ability. You get used to players like Low miscontrolling the ball because everybody does it. What put Low head and shoulders above other players in League Two was his ability to beat a man and cross the ball. Whereas at Northampton, during the times when he was most effective, this was all he was expected to do - at Leicester he's been asked to act as some kind of targetman from the games I've seen. The amount of times I've seen people on here complain that he never won a header all day. He won't. He can't head it. Of course his ability to beat a man and cross the ball was at League Two level, where lots of defences employ makeshift 35-year-old left backs and even the best players for each position are often extremely raw technically. Even for Northampton though I saw him have numerous shocking games.

Having watched Low at Northampton on and off for the last three seasons or so, I could see he would never make it. He would have had a slightly better chance at it if our central midfield was anything to write home about but we never seem to be in control of possession from the middle and as such, his inability was exposed time and time again.

I must confess it made me laugh when people got excited after his first couple of games for us. You can sort of see why now.

One other thing though - I can still see why Kelly bought him. He had no money to spend on transfer fees and here was a player in a position where we were desperately short of numbers. Kelly's first choice right sided midfielder was Alan Maybury at the start of the season. You can see why Low was bought - League Two Team of the Season last year (f**k knows how, I saw far better right wingers at Sixfields than him) and a more attacking player than Maybury to bring on as a different option.

Of course that doesn't make the following things right;

a) Maybury was first choice in the first place.

b) Low started too many games.

c) The Sylla debacle.

d) Kelly's not getting the best out of Hughes at right midfield.
