Cobbo Posted 23 January 2007 Posted 23 January 2007 To England's under 17's http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~969244,00.html Well done him. One of you youth team lovers, what kind of player is he? Could he make it?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 January 2007 Posted 23 January 2007 He's been with England youth for ages now, same age group as Chambers. He's looked great whenever I've seen him. There's a lot about him in the Academy thread that has about 75 replies at the moment.
Cobbo Posted 23 January 2007 Author Posted 23 January 2007 Well bugger me, academy thread ashmadamy thread. Here's where it's at.
Thracian Posted 23 January 2007 Posted 23 January 2007 It's already been mentioned elsewhere but there's no harm congratulating him twice, I guess.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 23 January 2007 Posted 23 January 2007 Pleased for him. To be amongst the top 18 English players in his age group is an achievement but on a cautious note, we've had England youth internationals who have failed to fulfill their potential before. We've just sold a former England youth striker for £65K to League One. Up to Mattock if he fulfills his obvious potential.

If you're not his type of player - and Mattock definitely is - you might as well not be there.
lildave3 Posted 23 January 2007 Posted 23 January 2007 Well done lad. He looks and sounds a real talent, hope he goes on and fulfils his potential now. England could do with a new left back

If you're not his type of player - and Mattock definitely is - you might as well not be there. I agree. I think that's why Dodds chances have been limited to appearances on the bench but in the case of Sheehan, I think many managers would find him difficult to get the best out of. He could do with a fresh start elsewhere but I think under different management Dodds would've been given a chance by now at this club. Whether he would've took it or not no-one knows but I believe he would've got a go. The signing of Cadamarteri just makes it seem like Kelly doesn't view Dodds as an option.

Louise Posted 23 January 2007 Posted 23 January 2007 Looks a lot older in that picture on the OS than he has in previous ones... Hmm... Oh, and well done Joe!
Jonbluefox9 Posted 23 January 2007 Posted 23 January 2007 Looks a lot older in that picture on the OS than he has in previous ones... Hmm... Oh, and well done Joe! He's a big 16 year old, that's for sure!
Geo V Posted 23 January 2007 Posted 23 January 2007 Yeah well done but just to get things in perspective before some knee-jerkers clammer for his involvement this saturday, check the players names in the squad and you will realise none of these players are anywhere near a first team. Its a little depressing to see so many of the squad from the big clubs too FFS. Let us little people have a chance you greedy buggers!!
lookwhaticando Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 And people say LB is a potential weak point in the team. Sod the LB position, hopefully Mattock will be ready for the first team for next season, and we can perhaps keep Maybury as a fullback option, just to cover our bases.
renards Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Several Leeds players in the squad, distant future may be rosey for them Be lucky to hold onto their young prospects in the third tier H Wilkinson set up the first real acadamy there, looks there still producing decent young players

Milan Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Michael Woods made an appearance for Chelsea recently HE WAS ROBBED FROM LEEDS
Geo V Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Leeds youth system has been amazing in recent times. It was only recently that they were robbed of Scott Carson and Aaron Lennon as well for relative peanuts.
Toby or not Toby Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 i played in the same team as joe at under 12's level, before he joined leicester. he was a good player then who had great pace and potential. unluckily for them i came just as he left and was his replacement! well done and good luck to him, im jealous
lcfc_jme Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Well done to Joe Mattock for his call up Can't say I'm suprised though he's a quality players
