davieG Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Steve Bruce has revealed his dismay at the Birmingham City fans who booed their team in the 1-0 win over Stoke City on Sunday. Gary McSheffrey's 16th strike of the season ensured all three points remained at St Andrews, a result which takes The Blues second in the Championship. Despite the victory, which gives Bruce's side a great chance of achieving automatic promotion, the match was marred by jeering from some of the home supporters amongst Birmingham's lowest crowd of the season. Sebastian Larsson's substitution for an injured Stephen Clemence in particular drew the fans' wrath and Bruce was left disappointed with the abuse he received. "We have won the game, gone second in the league with two games in hand and it is still not good enough," the exasperated manager exclaimed. "What I have witnessed and experienced today has saddened me a little bit. But I will get on with it and keep my mouth shut. "We have got a lot of young lads and they need help, not booing and jeering. I plead to everyone who supports the club to get behind the team. "I am paid well to try and manage the club. But I have to say I deserve more respect than to have people shouting 'you don't know what you doing' when you make a substitution. "What have I got to do? Hang up a board stating Clemence is nursing an injury!"
filbertway Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 The fans obviously like clemence and have very very very high expectations
Stuliasz Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 This is the main reason why I dislike so many of these type of clubs. For me it seemed to start when West Ham came down and felt as though they had the divine right to go back up and their fans were moaning left right and centre despite them spending the entire season in the playoffs. Sorry to take the topic slightly off Birmingham but in terms of the wider issue, I really hope West Ham and Leeds go down because of this.
The People's Hero Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 "What I have witnessed and experienced today has saddened me a little bit. But I will get on with it and keep my mouth shut. Erm.....
Joe. Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Seems like they're takin the league position and everything that goes with it for granted. We'd kill to be in their position and would definitely hail the manager all the way surely?
lookwhaticando Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 There's fickle, then there's downright stupidity. You wouldn't catch me complaining with a manager like Bruce and a squad like Birmingham's, second in the league. One of the best squads in the league, six points behind the leaders with two whole games in hand. I'm so sorry your season has gone tits up, Birmingham.

Everyone moans, I've herd Man U fans complain that Rooney can't finish and say that he should be sold and a few went absloutley bannanas when Ryan Giggs was offered a new contract.
JoeyB Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 bruce is a great manager and has built a good squad, if we were there we would be cheering the only reason brum arent cheering is because there not top, but they've got to games in hand. i agree with bruce tho if they got an injured player take him off they should'nt of sold upson
Brainy Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Why would Bruce keep a player at the club if the player didn't want to play for the club
surrifox Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Bruce is too thin skinned to be a manager he reminds me of David O'dreary always on about his "youngsters doing fantastic" - anyway who gives a $hite about him or his poxy team at the end of the day?
Geo V Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Any idiot who says he wants to quit a club because they are selling a player needs shooting, especially as he has got plenty of other players that they have spent money on, including £10m on 3 strikers (Jerome, McSheffery and Vine). Instead of putting his head under the pillow and hoping that his wantaway defender was going to stay, he should have lined up a replacement and just accepted the situation instead of crying so much that the fans think he is a big soft prat.
lcfc_jme Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 They feel as though they have a divine right to be in the Premiership, that they are a big club and should be absolutely hammering every team in this league. They won't be happy unless they are doing that. Didn't really hear 'em complaining too much when they were miles clear at the top.
