DB11 Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 This is a video about how the animals are really treated before they go off to the slaughtered house. http://www.meat.org
Ryanside Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 I would agree that the way the animals are treated there is horrific, and something should be done to stop this. But it does annoy me that some people will use this as an arguement to try and "convert" meat-eaters in veggies, since it is gonna to be a vey small percentage of farms that treat their animals in such bad and completely wrong way.
Leicfox Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Still don't put me off eating it tbh, although last week i only had meat one day and fish and salad the remaining and feel so much better for it.
blue blood Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 excuse the ignorance but is this the norm or are these extreme cases?
DB11 Posted 23 April 2007 Author Posted 23 April 2007 excuse the ignorance but is this the norm or are these extreme cases? I dunno. I just found the video on the net and thought I'd share it with you all... the makers obviously care for animals so one can only presume that they have exaggerated it and only shown the extreme conditions but, if you were taking an animal to be killed would you really treat it with respect? If you did you may become attached to it and how would you feel watching it get killed? If these peopled became attached to the animals then they wouldn't be very good at doing their jobs?

Geo V Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 I wont stop eating meat either but there is no need to be cruel to the animals before we they end up on our table. Im not suggesting we should offer them a last wish along with a cigerette but there is no need for cruelty!
James. Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 I haven't watched the video but I'm pretty sure I'll have seen similar ones. Let's not get carried away though, it'd be ignorant to think one video accurately represents an entire industry. There are rules and regulations that the majority will follow and the presence of these laws by definition means someone, somewhere will be breaking them. These people, like any criminal, deserve punishment... most effecitvely in revoking their right to slaughter. That said I'll carry on enjoying meat regardless.
Geo V Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 In defence of these videos I would like to point out that I have seen a few video`s in my time where certain females have been videoed performing favorable actions on animals which I am sure they enjoyed.
Daggers Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Cows like living in boxes - that's why all farmers keep them in crates. A cow in a box is easier to stack in a barn as well...the benefits are endless.
Kilworthfox Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 The language used in the film is carefully used! Some of the statements are ridiculous what's this all about animals going insane? Some of the images are disturbing i have to say, BUT that is the point that these folks who make such films wish to make. I have seen Pig farms when i went to watch LCFC vs Ipswich and there are some on the north of the county and are nothing like in the ones seen in this video. England and The European Union has much different regulations to America where this video was designed and probably made for Fact is my body is designed to eat fats and proteins and carbohydrates. Natures way i suppose, survival of the fittest but being in that position does not mean we as a carnivore should behave in a inhumane way to animals, but people should not use language which creates human feelings for animals who are not human.
