Unabomber Posted 12 June 2007 Author Posted 12 June 2007 Any one here played on Sky Poker. Just thought i'd mention it as I have been playing there quite alot recently, they have many tournys and to be quite honest the competition is very weak. Its A nice little earner.
Scow Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 *Lumpy Bumpy* I've only just got in to this game, mainly from drunken games on a recent holiday. Still a bit unsure on some things, but slowly getting in to it. I will want to play for money at some stage, so I'm just playing for practice on Yahoo Poker at the moment to refine my skills. Any tips/advice for a newcomer?
Unabomber Posted 1 July 2007 Author Posted 1 July 2007 Yes download either Fulltilt poker or Pokerstars, and just play for play chips, that is the perfect way to get learning. There is a range of games for as little as $1 when you feel comfortable enough, and always stay in your comfort zone, don't buyin for tournaments that you know are too expensive. But most importantly play for fun with friends, thats the best.
Tommeh Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 Had a great night on friday at the table. £10 buy in between 6 of us. I came 2nd getting £20 despite hardly hitting any decent hands, Infact probably my best one was pocket Jacks on the final hand heads up and my mate had the Ace's, game over Great night though
Rincewind Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 just came about 210 on PP freeroll .17$. I have a couple of poker games which are OK. I aslso have a few how to play books. Play moneys OK but nothing like the real thing. For one thing the players go beserk and if you want to play right you dont play like you do with free money. There are a lot of bad players out there and if you stick to a few basics and dont play like a fish it is possible to make a profit. Butit takes a lot of thought and you have to know something about pot odds and positional play. But you don't have to take notice of me. I have over a years poker anysis sent to me by my brother to try and turn me into a winner. I know what I should do but often fail which costs me. The majority of the time I play right but then play a hand bad. I'm talking about the FL tables here. NL is different in many ways but you still need a basic knowledge of maths to reach the top. I've won some S&G on Titan but not a regular thing. Not retiring yet. Look on YouTube for some Phil Helmouth classics.

Rincewind Posted 2 July 2007 Posted 2 July 2007 HU any pair is good or a ace or king. If you give an impression of being tight early in a tounament it will throw others off later when you are aggressive in the latter stages. You will find there a lot of players that go mad early on. All in first hand to win 15 chips with almost any two cards. I prefer to keep out the way and steal blinds when I can. I dont risk all my chips on mediocre hands early on.
potter3 Posted 2 July 2007 Posted 2 July 2007 I just won my first tournament ever Pity it was play money <_<
Geo V Posted 2 July 2007 Posted 2 July 2007 Ive been abroad for a while so havent played for ages but I love Texas Hold em poker and there are some right numpty playing usually so its a great money earner. To those who all play for "play money" only, join Ladbrokes because they have 4 daily freeroll comps with prize money ranging from $50 to $1000 and you dont have to deposit a thing. Its an ideal way to get playing without the wrecklessness of those who play in free money who dump there chips in without thought. BTW theres a pro-player called "Jesus" Ferguson who has twice made a million dollars from a zero stake (started in freerolls). I tried it and got to $70 before it went tats up
Rincewind Posted 3 July 2007 Posted 3 July 2007 The freerolls always seem to be the wrong time. I have a free entry to a tounament on Titan if I deposit but its always on a Saturday at around 4pm. The one day I do not have off. I won an entry to a sattelite but was unable to play. Didnt realise that this was the only thing you got for winning. I would have preferred finishing second. At least that was some cash.
Rincewind Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Just missed the final table in a Party Poker freeroll points Touney. 11th place paid $12.75. Winner $252. Had KK Flop came AAx other player had an Ace. Close call a couple of times. Once lost a huge stack when somebody called with J5 and hit two pair to my pair of kings with K9s. I think the flop was KJx and he called my raise and hit a 5 on the turn then went all in. For a change though I kept up with my chip count and was always around the average. Now watching the final table down to six players and they are on a break. Got a phone call half- midnight asking me to go work for a couple of hours. I was nearing the 100th position at the time and was not going to pack it in to go work for two hours. Would have took me 20 mins to get ready 40 to get there and I would only be there just over a hour. Waste of time. 4 players left now. Blinds 8 and 160000. Oh well maybe next time. My best finish in thish touney so I'm happy enough. Theres a freerool touney on PP at 8.45pm every night and the points is about 10.45. The 2nd one which is a points one actually pays more and there are less players entered. Around 5000 for the first. Prizes start at a few cents around the 1000 mark.
Maybes Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 to be fair thats a very good hand Went to play at rileys last thursday came 5th out of 22 just finished outside the prizes Went again last night. Came 2nd and scooped £123 prize
Unabomber Posted 22 July 2008 Author Posted 22 July 2008 I'm thinking of trying to organize a freeroll tounry exclusively for this forum on PokerUTD, I know that they are willing to sort tournies out for forums, as I played one recently, and they added a prize pool of $50, not alot I know. However there was only about 20 of us in it, so it worked out well, and wasn't one of these "freeroll" tournies that had hundreds of entrants. Just wanted to know how many of you would be up for it, cos if there is say more than 20 then I might be able to sort something for us. Just for a laugh really, so anyone can join in the gambling fun Also sorry for the year bump

Simi Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 On FB, Karl made one a while back... Playing on the Internet is overrated. This is face to face poker.
