Geo V Posted 11 May 2007 Posted 11 May 2007 No its not one of those funny word ones that someone sent me but some dude who gets a seemingly impossible numbers game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RI10VCZYjas
Finnegan Posted 12 May 2007 Posted 12 May 2007 I'd be quite interested to see a psychologist's report on him in regards to something like the autistic scale. That level of perception is just incredible. I mean even if you're a good mathematician, to have a brain that can focus and process such large calculations in such a small time is absolutely breathtaking. I mean you have to assume he'd clocked the basics of what he wanted to do long, LONG before the thirty seconds were up. I mean even Vordaman (sp?) was stunned, and she's no mug.

It really is shocking stuff. But did he win? That's the big question...

Yeah that's sorta what I mean. I mean, you could put that in front of a mathmetician and eventually he'd work it out but to clock within seconds that there was a chance of working it out in such a complicated (at this level) and unobvious calculation is, well, genius.
Wezleylowski Posted 12 May 2007 Posted 12 May 2007 Shame about her taste in clothes. Are you saying you wouldnt?
Geo V Posted 12 May 2007 Author Posted 12 May 2007 Are you saying you wouldnt? What, wear her clothes???!!

I was trying to think how to put in to words how impressed I was with that then I read this post. Pretty much sums it up - that guy is pretty special. I am a self-confessed number geek but f**k me that is something else. I'm sure there was some film/tv programme about a guy who could process enormous mental arithmetic calculations in his head... As for Vorderman - she's up there with Sue Barker. Ahem.
Steven Posted 12 May 2007 Posted 12 May 2007 When I was at University I saw the dossiest student of all time. He did Maths, got a First, and did not do a stroke. If you have that kind of mind it is all very straightforward and if you look at it then then the approach he took was logical.
