City fan @ Aston Uni Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 Well even though he had been linked with them i never thought he would go there!! I dunno, havent seen him play that much but surely he wont get anyway near the first team??? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...sea/6681893.stm
Joe. Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 Is he really that good? If he wants to actually play football, then it's probably a bad move for him. On the other hand, if he's happy to pick up a handy pay packet each week then it's a great move for him.
FilboFox Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 What is Sidwell thinking!?! Does he really think that he is EVER going to get near the first team and see action in the coming seasons... this kid is a fool! He's either in it for the money or he just is INCREDIBLY stupid...
Joe. Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 Yeah I thought this was agreed weeks ago Yeah it was but it's actually been completed today
Maybes Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 Just going there to get a big pay day. Will end up like scott parker me thinks......a bench warmer
Mort Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 Considering they'll be short of the likes Mikel and Essien etc... because of the African Cup, Sidwell is good cover and he'll get games then if not before, he's talented and a decent player for a club like Chelski to pick up on a free to give their squad some depth.

That's a good point to be fair. Chelsea will probably be the most effected by that. They've said no high profile signings so maybe a few more of these.
The Reverend Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 Whats the betting he starts getting england call-ups now cos hes at chelski?!

Simi Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 Surely Arsenal will be biggest hit in terms of numbers? You're probably right. I was under the impression a lot were French. But you're the man with the stats.

Damn good point
lookwhaticando Posted 22 May 2007 Posted 22 May 2007 You're probably right. I was under the impression a lot were French. But you're the man with the stats. They've three Africans of note - Eboue, Toure, Adebayor. Key players, really. I had Diaby down as African, but he's French apparently. Looking at it, you were right all along... more Africans at Chelsea... most of them had eluded me when I thought about it earlier... could have sworn there was only Essien... conveniently forgetting the existence of Drogba & Mikel. I though Kalou was actually Dutch... turns out he's African too. So there's 2 really key players and two significant bit part players for Chelsea... perhaps they've edged it.
Bryn Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Kalou was the guy that the Dutch FA desperately tried to get a Dutch passport for before the World Cup last year but they couldn't get him one so he went to play for the Ivory Coast instead.
sdb Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 obi mikel, essien, geremi, etc aren't really like sidwell tho. if it were lamard or ballack going for a month it'd make more sense. a midfield of sidwell, ballack and lampard wouldn't work imo - they're too similar

Thanks for clearing that up. Sidwell to be the star of Chelseas League Cup team.
lookwhaticando Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Thanks for clearing that up. Sidwell to be the star of Chelseas League Cup team. I can see it now... an away day to sunny Dagenham. Yup... that'll certainly be the highlight of his season at Chelski.
AyewJoking Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 He'll get frustrated at the lack of first team oppurtunities at Chelsea and join Leicester on laon.
