I agree though. If africa did something to help itself then maybe I'd have some sympathy but for every £10 given around half of it is mismanaged or just plain stolen by unscrupulous officials.

cisono Posted 8 June 2007 Posted 8 June 2007 I also find it a bit distasteful of Bono to go on about world poverty and then charge nearly £300 a night to stay in his Dublin hotel. Unless he gives the profits to his cause
Guest Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 I also find it a bit distasteful of Bono to go on about world poverty and then charge nearly £300 a night to stay in his Dublin hotel. Whilst he is driven around in his own limo to his private helicopter which takes him back to his mansion etc etc. I'm sure if he felt that strongly, he should be setting an example, what with the respect and love the people have for him. The hypocrite.
dandannieldanok Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 I wish this pair would shut up, they have the right intentions but expect way too much. Egits.
Hullfox Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 In fairness to Geldof, he started the whole Band Aid thing when he had no money whatsoever. He sold very few records after the early eighties either so it didn't relaunch his career. His money came from the TV production company he owned that devised Big Breakfast. As for Bono, the word bandwagon does spring to mind. Having visited Africa this year and seen families who are not classed as being in poverty, the gap between us and them is horrendous and there are plenty of people on the ground trying to change things for the better. They don't get in the spotlight though.
Daggers Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 I don't believe either Bob or Bono are arguing that Family Stez starves...unless of course Stez is a representative at the G8 summit.

Raj Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 We should all thank the lord(or whoever you,or may not worship!) that we are lucky to have what we have. Things we take for granted, worrying about our football team more than worrying about where our next meal will come from. WE are the fortunate ones and should feel a sense of humanity towards people who are not so fortunate. We should help those less fortunate as long as you can afford to. If you only give 1 pound a week to charity it may not help as much as if Bill Gates gave 20 Billion but its what you give from the kindness of your heart. The countries involved MUST sort out their own mess too obviously but don't worry about what others are doing...do what YOU feel is right! End of sermon!
Number 6 Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Can't stand Bob or Bono, both idiots and one looks like a tramp. I will always be of the view that you look after number 1.
stez Posted 10 June 2007 Author Posted 10 June 2007 I don't believe either Bob or Bono are arguing that Family Stez starves...unless of course Stez is a representative at the G8 summit. i suppose my 'anger' towards them both is because my current situation leaves me helpless, when it does come to helping others as much as i would like too. Stop with the street feeding already! like i'd actually share a cumberland with anybody! <_<

Daggers Posted 10 June 2007 Posted 10 June 2007 If that wasn't intentional, it was rather spooky. How odd - because I was sitting here not looking forward to tomorrow
