dandannieldanok Posted 15 June 2007 Posted 15 June 2007 Elvis is crap and Fryatt is not much better but face it he is. You can't tell me that Elvis would have turned Leacock inside out and provided the cool finish like Fryatt. I'm not defending Fryatt's poor season but given the choice between the two I would choose Matty. Therefore, linking this back to the topic, Allen has done a good thing by transfer listing Elvis.
RedOnRed Posted 16 June 2007 Posted 16 June 2007 I'd worry a bit about Allen signing a foreign player. The only foreign player he got in for us and one of the first things he did was get rid of Matt Baker who was a relatively decent keeper and then replaced him with Adolfo Baines, who I believe was at the time the reserve keeper for Tennerife. The first thing Baines did on his debut was get sent off for handling outside the area and things didn't get much better - he was absolute crap. In a saving face routine, Allen persisted on playing him up to Christmas, despite the player clearly not being up to the job. That clear error of judgement cost us big time.

To be honest i think this is down to our Sporting director not allen.

Can you please stop worrying about us as you're beginning to come across as a patronising, soured MK fan. We've had more ups and downs than any club in the history of football, probably; so we don't need your warnings or concern, as genuine as you might think you are being we are not easily taken in. Start worry about you're own club and that you don't do a Brentford because your relative richness does not guarantee you anything.
Daggers Posted 16 June 2007 Posted 16 June 2007 I'd worry a bit about Allen signing a foreign player. I'm going to echo Davie's post - you need to worry about having a team without an inspirational manager, without a competent backroom team and with a squad that is about to lose its best players with potential. I think we'll manage to muddle on by this season - I can not help but think you lot may not be so lucky.

"Patronising and soured" is a strange perception of it. I'm just highlighting how things happened to us. Shouldn't you be more hardened to things if you're so used to all the ups and downs? When you talk about Brentford are you talking in relation to Allen as he was manager there too?

My reply was solely to do with you and I was explaining how you were beginning to appear not for my sake but yours. I'm too old in the tooth to worry about what other fans think they are no more likely to be correct than our own and they get it wrong often enough. I was referring to what happened to Brentford after he left them for you.
RedOnRed Posted 16 June 2007 Posted 16 June 2007 My reply was solely to do with you and I was explaining how you were beginning to appear not for my sake but yours. Like I say, i'm just saying it as it happened. If that's not in line with some people's vision of hope or bursts a few bubbles...sorry.

Whoosh, that's the point you keep missing, we don't have any bubbles to burst as far as LCFC is concerned with 120+ years of history we've hit rock bottom after 3 years skirting relegation. We only have to believe that Allen can take us up to mid-table and that is progress. Even you must think he's capable of that?
David Villa Posted 16 June 2007 Posted 16 June 2007 We will finish higher than mid-table this season with out a shadow of doubt, Allen is the right man who will rant and rave at the players.

He might get you up to mid table but personally I think a club like Leicester deserves better then that and he will certainly rant and rave at the players but unfortunately to the loss of players that don't deserve to go.

Mid-table is progress enough after the last few years. There's no point in saying a club deserves better than anything - a club is where it is based on what it achieves out on the football field over the course of a season, and with that said, we deserve to be loitering dangerously above the Championship relegation zone. Leeds fans think their club deserves to be in the upper echelons of the Premiership for goodness sake, but they're now in League One. Clubs deserve to be where their performances take them. We currently only have 2 or 3 players at a stretch who don't deserve to go anywhere. The only players I wouldn't like to lose based on last season would be Hume on Kisnorbo. But they aren't awesomely special and could be replaced with relative ease at this level. Thankyou for coming and highlighting the fact that Allen is doing things differently here than he did at your place. Your job is done.
Thracian Posted 16 June 2007 Posted 16 June 2007 We will finish higher than mid-table this season with out a shadow of doubt, Allen is the right man who will rant and rave at the players. Ranting is all very well on odd occasions when your team is so far below their best as to be taking the piss. But rant and rave all the time and you soon lose effect. What players need during a match is advice if things are going wrong either individually or collectively or direction on how to maintain a winning situation. In other words they want information from someone who is properly capable of analysing a game and offering solutions with a calm certainty. Faltering players don't need telling they're shit or embarrassing because they're playing badly. They want help in combating a difficult opponent or in correcting whatever it is they are doing wrong. And teams which are getting torn apart need a new plan of action which will help reverse the situation not some nebulous rollicking. My mind is open on Allen's ability in this direction. But screaming and shouting if you're unable to analyse matches won't help for any amount of time and won't maintain a manager's credibility and respect. As for how high we'll finish there's no logical way of guessing. We don't even know who's playing for us yet much less how the team will gel.
Zingari Posted 16 June 2007 Posted 16 June 2007 Ranting and Raving is not guaranteed to get you above mid-table other wise I could do it. ranting and raving is much a underrated skill ; fergies hairdryer treatment is the pinnacle of this dying art

What's he doing differently then? Bit early to say I would of thought. If anything he's going to be doing everything the same seeing as he's taken his staff with him.
