I'm almost clean again it's been that long since a transfer. I don't think I can go through those withdrawal symptoms again I really don't, I got a warning at work for calling a girl a fat bitch on facebook, lost my appetite for days on end and didn't wank for a week. Next time I will force Milan to wash my bed sheets!

lcfc_jme Posted 15 June 2007 Posted 15 June 2007 I like the sound of Allen so far. He has made a big mistake in putting Elvis on the transfer list imo, but everything else he has done and said has been pretty good for me. The man might be successful here.

His pace always causes trouble and if anybody gave him decent service and showed a bit of sustained confidence in him, he'd be a handy little striker for us. I know it.

Seriously, if a gaffer shows a fair bit of confidence in Elvis, gives him a sustained run in the starting XI and manages to give him decent service, you'd see him score more goals than you'd think.

With the type of football Sunderland, Colchester (particularly at home) and Southend played last season, Elvis would have fit right in and scored a fair few goals. He needs quick thinking and attacking teams. Teams who can play good football and move the ball forward quickly - getting players up in support in the process. And that was at this level.

I'm guessing in a proper footballing side chances are going to be laid on a plate fairly often for the strikers. Meaning they're bound to score more goals. It's all well and good playing hoof ball and asking Elvis to charge forwards and backwards 30 or 40 yards a time to chase the ball, but he's not really going to score many goals that way. Especially if teams play a deep back line and the ball isn't cutting.

Yep it's a shame cuz the lad's a trier and not a lazy git like some of his teamates last season but he can't finish and I believe that at CC level his ratio of goals to chances will never be high enough no matter how good the service to him is,that's not to say he could'nt ply his trade in the lower leagues and make a dam good fist of it!

Nineteen games Hammond played out of 51. His runs of consecutive games read: two, five, one, seven, two ....plus two cup games. Real confidence building that. And his 6 goals from those 19 starts equatted to a potential 15/16 goals for the season if he'd maintained that average, and in a side which had less creativity than a concrete lamp-post and was almost always weighted for defence. If Hammond had a manager and supporters who got behind him half as keenly as they did with Fantasy Fryatt I'm quite sure he'd do perfectly well. Players don't have to be pretty to be effective.

About time I chucked my hat in the ring about this. Elvis is a poor player, that is evident. But I agree with Thracian that Fryatt has so far done nothing to suggest he will do it for us regularly for us, and seems except from the amount of critisism others get. He has more potential granted, but he needs to do something with it sooner rather than later.
