Manwell Pablo Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso has launched a shocking attack on his McLaren team, insisting English sensation Lewis Hamilton is getting "all of the help".Hamilton took the first chequered flag of his career at the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, leapfrogging Alonso to top the Drivers Championship. The triumph clearly rankled with the defending champion, who offered congratulations through gritted teeth, hinting the victory had involved a fair share of luck. Now Alonso has voiced concerns that his own prospects are suffering due to Hamilton, who the Spaniard claims is receiving preferential treatment from McLaren. "From the first moment I wasn't comfortable with everything," Alonso said on Cadena Ser radio. "It's an English team, with an English team-mate. You know that all of the help goes his way. "I've understood that from the first moment and, well, I'm not moaning about it." Alonso's comments come just a week after he actually benefited from the orders of the McLaren team, who warned Hamilton not to jeopardise a team one-two at the Monaco Grand Prix. Now it appears Alonso may be worried at having to play second fiddle, although he insists he remains confident despite dropping eight points behind his team-mate. He said: "I'm relaxed, I'm good, although I know there is some impatience for the way I arrived and how I am expected to dominate. "I'm where I want to be and I have clear options for winning the title, which is what we want." Not seeing how Alonso's stupid over taking manavoures and drive through penalties are Lewis Hamiltons fault. If anything I believe it was Lewis Hamilton who was told not to overtake the above speaking Spanish nob head in Monte Carlo.
Lord Nibblington Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Be fair to the lad. It's got to be hard to be a team of another nationality... Oh wait. You did that at Reanult. You numpty.
dandannieldanok Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Well he wasn't complaining when Hamilton was stopped from competing for his lead in Monaco.
Gené and Tonic Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 I wonder if he didn't really say that and a few of his quotes have been taken out of proportion? I don't know, but Ron Dennis clearly stuck the finger up at the British media at Canada when he said through the radio 'You won that fair and square' to Hamilton. It may just be sour grapes from Alonso, and tbh I'd be pissed off if I won at Monaco and was then critisised and told it was because the team wouldn't let my team-mate race me. I think he's just getting his own back at the British media personally.
Flynny Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Alonso is a dick. Come on Hamilton! A bit far!? When he finally broke Schumacher's stranglehold everyone loved the bloke. Throw him into a team with a brit and suddenly everyone's at his throat?
Brainy Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 A bit far!? He always goes too far with words. Alonso is a great driver. I understand his concerns but coming out with this in public isn't going to increase his popularity.

stez Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 'just because you're losing' sprung to mind, when, i heard this earlier i'd love to be in the meeting he has with ron dennis fairly soon.

The comments are probably down to his frustration and the way the quotes have been presented looks very selective to me.
mancunianfox Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 Never liked the bloke, even when he was beating the schum. I think its definately sour grapes. I think its hard to believe that the double world champion would not be given the best mechanics, strategists and resources available at a team in favour of a 22yo rookie. Hamilton was in the better position to win the race after qualifying and Alonso can't deal with that. After all he has never had a competitive team mate before (Fisichella). Alonso suffered from bad luck with the safety car incidents but even then he didn't show Hamilton's speed and consistency and was even overtaken by Takuma Sato in his vastly inferior Super Aguri.
The Stig Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 It's Mclaren being biased that made you cock up two starts and made you be out paced by your team mate isn't it Fernando. Looks like he's feeling the pressure. Shumi would never have said that in the same situation.
mancunianfox Posted 13 June 2007 Posted 13 June 2007 To be fair Schumacher did always support his team mates, but then again they always had a well defined role as a number two so I guess the lack of competition made it easier for him.
