davieG Posted 30 June 2007 Posted 30 June 2007 From Sky Fulham have agreed a deal with West Bromwich Albion for striker Diomansy Kamara. The Senegalese striker has been targeted by a number of clubs this summer, but Fulham are now in pole-position to seal his signature. The two clubs have now agreed terms on a deal worth £6.5million. It is reported that a Fulham player will move in the opposite direction as part of the deal. Kamara is now in London discussing personal terms and undergoing a medical with The Cottagers. Kamara could be the first of a number of departures from the Hawthorns this weekend, as Sunderland are believed to be closing in on Paul McShane and Paul Robinson. The Black Cats are close to sealing a £5million double deal for the pair, who are both keen on moves to the Premiership.
Mort Posted 30 June 2007 Posted 30 June 2007 Could have gone to Roma but he opts for Fulham... bad move if it happens as i dont see him saving Fulham from a relegation dog fight and he could have proven invaluable for WestBrom next season.
Simi Posted 30 June 2007 Posted 30 June 2007 6.5 million. West Brom have got a really good deal for that. They rejected around 3 million I think. There is no doubt that he is a decent player but 6.5 million seems a little steep. West Brom might struggle for a play off place if they continue to let there top players go, McShane and Robinson look to be out the door, Curtis Davies will probably jump of the sinking ship as well. Koumas not far behind.
Tubes Posted 30 June 2007 Posted 30 June 2007 its all good news for us i would also be interested so see the amount of money coming into the championship in transfer fees to previous seasons players are being priced stupidly now and the 'bigger' teams are prepared to pay it the 3 biggest i can think of are... walcott bale bent between the 3 of them they have been sold for over 30 million and i see it as though unless we get up quickly then even with mandarics money we will struggle to compete in this league in a couple of seasons but then again there must be a large sum coming our way for hammond maybury and douglas
Flexx Posted 30 June 2007 Posted 30 June 2007 It's not 6.5 Million exactly, it's 4Million plus Heidar Helguson. So it's an alright deal for Fulham really
Joe. Posted 30 June 2007 Posted 30 June 2007 Very bad news for West Brom. Looks like their set to lose a few key players. With these possible three leaving, it wouldn't surprise me to see Koumas wanting out.
Finnegan Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 Koumas DOES want out. He never wanted to be at WBA in the first placce. And if it's true that Celtic and Everton want him, WBA don't have the power to keep him there.
Tevez Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 If Koumas played for a good club, he would be a good centre midfielder. I hope he goes Everton.
davieG Posted 1 July 2007 Author Posted 1 July 2007 If Koumas played for a good club, he would be a good centre midfielder. I hope he goes Everton. Err he is a good centre midfielder, why does playing for a 'good' club make him a better player?
Micky Ruddle Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 Err he is a good centre midfielder, why does playing for a 'good' club make him a better player? Maybe because he has better players around him...
Jay Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 Maybe because he has better players around him... but that also works the other way round and can make crap players look good
davieG Posted 1 July 2007 Author Posted 1 July 2007 Maybe because he has better players around him... I still don't know how that makes him a better player, it might make better use of his play and expose his abilities but at his age I hardly think it will improve his skills significantly to warrant the statement above.
Simi Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 If Koumas played for a good club, he would be a good centre midfielder. I hope he goes Everton. I think it's unfair to say West Brom aren't a good club. I thought they played some of the best football in this division last year. If they weren't seeing all the players leaving now, they would without a doubt be near the top next year.
Finnegan Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 If Koumas played for a good club, he would be a good centre midfielder. I hope he goes Everton. Err...? I was going to comment, but everyone else has said what I was going to.
dandannieldanok Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 What a waste of money, Kamara is a good player but for that price you would only get your money by playing to his strengths. I don't think Kamara suits Sanchez's long-ball tactics.
Wezleylowski Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 I'm not sure that Jason could cut it in the prem, and he's no spring chicken to be fair to him. What do we think?
The Reverend Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 I'm not sure that Jason could cut it in the prem, and he's no spring chicken to be fair to him. What do we think? He'd definitely cut in in the Premwithout a doubt, hes been there before. And hes only 27!
potter3 Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 Didn't Kamara struggle last time he was in the Prem with WBA?
Sods Posted 1 July 2007 Posted 1 July 2007 Didn't Kamara struggle last time he was in the Prem with WBA? yep couldnt hit a barn door. confidence is so important in a striker. imo
Ultra Posted 2 July 2007 Posted 2 July 2007 Helguson's a decent player at this level. I'm not sure the baggies will be THAT much weaker with him in the side instead of Kamara - especially if he can link up with Kevin Phillips.
