Webbo Posted 3 July 2007 Author Posted 3 July 2007 Don't think I'll bother next week, Elvis Hammond would be a 20 goal a season man over there.
The Stig Posted 3 July 2007 Posted 3 July 2007 Is it Boston Goals style commentary, if not I'll not bother.
act smiley Posted 3 July 2007 Posted 3 July 2007 It was almost Boston Goals style, but not quite as hyperactive. Doubt Elvis Hammond would be a 20 goal a season striker there too, 10 certainly, but 20 is pushing it. Wasn't exactly the best game though, which is odd considering that its not live so they had time to pick and choose which to put on, although I suppose they probably just went for "right, which of the ones that had the cameras had the most goals".
Uncle Monty Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I think it's pretty cool that more fooball is on, even if it is MLS. the commentary is funny they don't say shoot they say "he's gunna fire one in" angel the top scorer, wtf is going on!

Far from suprising is it. He's capable of double figures in the prem when he's on form.
Raise Cattle Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 The commentetors piss me off far to much for it to seem palletable. I don't think we need to encourage the yanks in their attempt to take over every sport either. I probably not watch it much.
Finnegan Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I like the MLS. I like the J-League more. I think I might move to Japan and try be a Pro Footballer.

The editing/commentary were peculiar, why not cut out the minute when the physio comes on? Also there was this Irishman, Tommy Smith, who was presumably the expert, who talked b0ll0x.
Geo V Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I`ll watch a Beckham game or two Im sure like I would watch highlights of any English player playing abroad, even Gaz Lineker in Japan but the commentators seem to make our beautiful game sound unpure!!
placidcasual Posted 5 July 2007 Posted 5 July 2007 Wasn't exactly the best game though, which is odd considering that its not live so they had time to pick and choose which to put on, although I suppose they probably just went for "right, which of the ones that had the cameras had the most goals". As far as I am aware the game they show on five is the ESPN game from the previous Thursday night. So it will probably be Houston- NY next week. The commentators are Tommy Smyth - who is completely incompetent Eric Wynalda - Takes a viewpoint just to be controversial. Dave O'Brien - Usually does baseball. Just be thankful it isn't Max Bretos.
Webbo Posted 10 July 2007 Author Posted 10 July 2007 Don't think I'll bother next week, Elvis Hammond would be a 20 goal a season man over there. Having seen it again this week, I think we could get rid of Rab to NY as well. Houston 4- New York 0.
New England Fox Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Good God Tommy Smith is annoying as hell! He commentates on the Champions League matches as well, when they get shown on ESPN, both his voice, and his 'expert opinion' make me cringe.
Bluefoxtim Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Yeah I watched it today, saw it last week as well. "He shoots the ball!" The Irish bloke is a fvckwit
