Fox in a Box Posted 20 February 2005 Posted 20 February 2005 I'm a season Ticket holder for many a year and I'm guessing that If we get a home draw against a so called BIG team (chelsea, arse, ManURE that we will see some of our 'fairweather fans turn up. I hate these type of fans who just come for the so called glory fixtures. What Im getting @ is that we get 16K regulars and 21K in the prem? I wish these fans would dip into there pocket and support whatever the league, whatever the conditions. (we play better when the conditions are crap...remember pompey away! Do you know of any? Name and shame them
Anish Posted 20 February 2005 Posted 20 February 2005 Yes I agree it is annoying when we sell out against the big teams and then half the supporters disappear for the next game when we are playing a lesser team. And there are always a fair few 'undercover' fans who buy tickets in the home LCFC end when in fact they support the opposition. That always pisses me off too.

Ive supported Leicester all my life,it cost just 50p to get in Pen 4 as a juvenile when i first started to visit Filbert Street and ive been to as many matches as i could get to since. Only the last 2 seasons have we as a family been able to afford season tickets,2 adult and 2 kids, we have 6 kids but share the the 2 tickets between em, right or wrong thats what we do. Now , next season , i really dont think that we can stretch to season tickets, so for me itll be back to just the "big" games or games that are affordable at the time. So , if that puts me in the "fairweather" , "hated" or "so called supporter" bracket then so be it, i still consider myself a lifelong fan, blue thro and thro and always will be, tho i do find the whole attitude quite offensive. I suppose it suxx to be me

The Livingston Fox Posted 20 February 2005 Posted 20 February 2005 It costs me £35 train fare every home game from Liverpool to Leicester and i can't get to the midweek games but i still buy my season ticket knowing this.It used to cost me £100 every game when i travelled down from Scotland for home games leaving at 6am and getting home at midnight.

Phil Posted 20 February 2005 Posted 20 February 2005 we are incresingly getting these fans now, when we play big teams west Ham Leeds etc we have full houses yet when we play lesser teams coventry Brighton Etc some fans cant be bothered. I dread to think how many fans we'll have next seaon If we get promoted. but the biggest thing that annoys me is away fans the the home areas couple times this season its happened and our stewards turn a blind eye, one time I have seen an away fan thrown out the home section was West ham and thats because the bloke got a alot of wel deserved abuse. i was sitting 2 rows behind the fella and the steward said If you come with me I'll get you into tge away area with the rest of your fans. #### no should that bloke been alowed to sit in the away section should have been thrown out onto the street.

davieG Posted 20 February 2005 Posted 20 February 2005 There's no right or wrong to this, what you should avoid is tarring everyone with the same brush; sure there are some so called 'fair weather' supporters always have been always will, but there are also a fair number who agonise over missing games and have to make choices, so come on which would you choose to go to if you could only afford the odd game Gillingham or Forest and how do you think we got to take 30k+ to Wembley for the play-offs when Filbo only held 21000, would you have been happy to have been out numbered by Derby and Swindon, of course not. I sympathise with Gaz having also supported LCFC from the early sixties rarely missing a game home or away, then I had a family and there was no way I could afford to go to every game and went when I could now I can afford to buy a season ticket I certainly wouldn't judge others. So let's got off our high, holier than thou horses, live and let live and not criticise people with out knowing the facts. Besides what does it matter if some people have other more important things in their lives and only choose to go occasionally at least they're not suppporting Man U.
shrood Posted 20 February 2005 Posted 20 February 2005 dont get me started on the middle class ponces who call those who stuggle to save enough to go to whatever games they can because they love the club 'fair weather supporters' or 'part time supporters'....£40 (including travel etc) aint generally a viable amount to pay for 90 mins entertainment, those that can afford the stupid amounts people pay nowadays for a season ticket should jus be glad their in that positions and not try and cuss off others

Yes I can get the train, (which I do) but I have to get to the station. Living in a village, whose bus service is almost none-existant, then I can't rely on that. I get to every game I can, whether that's the 'bigger' games or not. Am I a 'fair weather supporter'? Personally, I'd loved to get to nearly every game. But for me, it's impossible

I live about an hour and half away from Leicester and my Uncle drives me my grandad and cousin to games. If my Uncle cannot get to a certain away game i have to rely on the trains. Unfortunately i could not get to the Vally Yesterday.I could get the train to Leicester but there was no trains back to Worksop ( My hometown ) from Leicester after a certain time. So i was stuck. It really annoys me when i cant get to matches and i feel as though im letting the club down Ill be at Stoke on Tuesday backing the boys and lets hope we can get a win

Matt Posted 20 February 2005 Posted 20 February 2005 Well this is my first season as STH, I have gone to Leicester ever since I was a little kid, and although until this season I havn't been a STH I always considered myself a big Leicester fan, when I wasn't a STH I used to got to at guess 50/60% of home games - maybe slightly less than that, whether they were big or small clubs playing us....we get relegated and I buy my first ST can't call me a glory hunter can you? "Spose my thinking could have been well we've got relegated we'll have a good season this season", BUT - It wasn't, you find some of my posts posted in the summer and they will say 'we're turning into a division 1 mid-table team!'

When we were in the Premiership last season I went to a handful of games simply because I couldnt afford Premiership prices and even then it was to the cheaper games and not Man u etc - certainly no glory hunter here! I remember driving (on my own) to a friendly in Kettering when id not long passed my test - those were the days eh!

This is not just associated with going to matches either IMO. As it happens being a student in Cambridge and having to WORK MY ARSE OFF I dont get much time or money to go and see City. I went to 4 home games last season (Aston Villa, Everton, Man City, Portsmouth) and have only managed 2 this season (West Ham and Gillingham). You can bet that I will be trying to get tickets for the quarter final no matter what! Just cause I cant get to many matches right now doesnt mean jack about my level of support for City. I graduate (hopefully!) this summer and so next season, whatever league we are in I will have a season ticket

I've got a season and have done since I was 8 as well. *Almost 16 * I only really tend to go to away games nearer to me and in roughly a 2-3 drive. I've been to the last 3 away game on the trot *1st 3 of the season* and intend to go to more
Alexikokopops Posted 20 February 2005 Posted 20 February 2005 Haven't been able to afford a season ticket before I was gonna buy one for this season but my main source of income (my Student Loan) didn't come through until December, which was a bit of a bummer because I had no money. However, I'm getting my season ticket for next season, whichever league we're, and will have to trust the trains from a village in Lincolnshire, or Leamington Spa (depending what time of the year it is). Unfortunately I'm not gonna be able to afford many away games, but I'll give it my best shot.
