Simon Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Really well put. Everything you've said here Hullfox is exactly how I would think a lot of us (including me!) have been feeling; I hope you manage to get a reply from Milan.
davieG Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I still don't see what is wrong with GM as manager. Also, MA would never have even been attracted to LCFC had Milan not come in. People are so goddamn ungrateful MA would have still wanted to come MM or no MM, we are a club with fantastic facilities, steeped in history and relative success. Even without MMs money the right manager could do a decent job for us in this league, provided the board could have kept us ticking over. Just because it's awash with money hasn't improved the overall quality of play significantly. Any well managed half decent team could get into the play-offs, even with the squad we had last year with someone decent in charge we could have made a fair stab at it. Teams like Colchester last year and now Bristol City & S****horpe have managed to achieve a decent level of success with players that are/where primarily League 1.

davieG Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 And if teams around us had half their team injured Seriously, how would last seasons team ever have gotten into the play offs even with Alex Ferguson in charge? Err did I say they would have - NO, I said a fair stab. But even that team by most people's reckoning totally under performed. That team still makes up over 50% of the current team. Blackpool 7 players + 2 sub appearances Accrington 7 players + 2 sub appearances Crystal Palace 6 players + 2 subs appearances Watford 6 players

davieG Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I still disagree with you. That is your right! but if you are going to question my seriousness perhaps you could put up a decent counter claim with some justification for your view.
Geo V Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I must be in the minority but I see what "Milan has done to our club" as this... - Took over when no-one else was realistically interested and basically pulled us out of the shite. - After being fair with RK by giving him a chance, he gets an experienced manager in to save us from relegation in Wortho. That worked and that said manager has subsequently gone on to manage his country. - Hired new full time manager and went for the "young" option on this one and despite allowing him to bring in more than a dozen players and spend upwards of £5m on transfer fees and signing on fees, decided very early that MA wasnt the man. - Had a look around to find a suitable replacement and basically brought in the lesser of all evils. Due to the timing, not much was available and if he appointed Peter Reid, Glenn Roeder or Brendan Rodgers, many fans would have still moaned. Whilst I agree that we have been dragged through the shite emotionally over the last few months, we have to remember that Milan Mandaric had little to do with our struggles of last season, despite being in the hot seat for the latter months. Since then, he has put his money where his mouth is as is doing all he can to get us up, even if it means admitting he made a mistake with the appointment of MA. Lets be fair, he is the one who has looked a dick regarding the appointment as it failed and failed quickly. No offence to Hullfox who makes sense in what he says in certain aspects, but I`ll have a 250 round trip myself today but where we differ in opinions is I am thankful that I can go and watch a team that includes International players, other clubs player of the seasons, two 7 figure sum signings, good quality championship players acquired on Bosmans and a few of our own. Maybe you would prefer that he wasn't here and we went back to the old days of AJ, Low, COG and the rest??! Lets not get so melodramatic and just get on with what we have and be lucky we aren't one of the donkey clubs who have a real reason to be worried about the future.
Zingari Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 i agree with you geo Dear Milan, In your short time of owning Leicester City Football Club, I have been through nearly the full spectrum of emotions that I have previously endured during the previous thirty years in which I have watched this club which belongs to me and 30,000 others like me. no it doesn't
Geo V Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 i agree with you geo Dear Milan, In your short time of owning Leicester City Football Club, I have been through nearly the full spectrum of emotions that I have previously endured during the previous thirty years in which I have watched this club which belongs to me and 30,000 others like me. no it doesn't mate the very fact that at the beginning of last season we opened up with home attendances of 19035 and 18820 compared to this seasons 26650 and 21642 of this season tells me that the locals were actually excited with what was going on at the club with the team that was being formed. On the pitch, we have added two more players since MA left and the likes of Kaebi and Cort are ready and willing for selection which makes times just as exciting if not more. Its time for a reality check for many.
Candidcamera Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I drive 200 miles to see home games. I'm too tired and disappointed today to come. I will not give up. I want to get behind Megson because it is not his fault. Let's hope he is given a reasonable chance to start the move towards the Premiership.

Shipman Out Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 Milan wont be here to long in the life of the club, lets just enjoy the ride for 5 years or so, whats he gonna do when he leaves us...sell us to someone else with some money hopefully they shall be buying a Premiership club with a good fanbase so worth investing into club, team and the city. This is so much more appealing compared to the small time club we were rapidly and HAPPILY becomming, we would be and were totally fooked! couldnt even buy out a manager from a contract or afford players on loan that had any wage apart from a shite youth wage. Lets wake up and look at the bigger picture...Milan is nuts agreed, i liked Martin Allen (personality didnt get time to judge on the park NONE of us did), Hate Megson (for the simple reason his tactics) . But i think Milan Manderic is a top man for this club he will over his stewardship wake us up try and shake us untill this small time club attitude is no longer there. Surely 5 years of this ride is much better to where we would be with 100k here 100k there from second rate Leicestershire business men? Oh and if i sent a letter id wanna ask for terracing back get an atmosphere going so we can let him know from the terraces what we think "Who Makes Shit Substitutes...Megson does Megson does..Who makes shite substitutes...Megson does Megson does"
Zingari Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 I would have thought that the comment was quite clearly not about shareholdings. i understand the emotive use of your phrase, but your letter is addressed to the serbo-american tycoon who actually owns the club and sees it as an investment in which to make a profit ( in the same way you choose to by making chairs/beds etc if my memory serves me correctly ) Would you want one of your customers ( thats all we are ) telling you how to run the show or who to hire and fire ? please don't tell me a football club is different , first and foremost it is a business , if the club becomes a success, we the fans can all enjoy it, (including MM) but if in the event of failure and the club becomes insolvent with massive debts it will be MM who will have lost out .( how many of those 30k fans will dig deep into their own pockets to rescue it ? it sure will not be many and the sense of the club " belonging" them will not stretch that far In reality the club in no way belongs to the 30,000 or so fans who choose to attend or not each week, we are but patrons ,in the same way that the bus i get on every day does not belong to me or any other passengers , the bus company would i'm sure welcome suggestions from us to help them give a better service but thats as far as it goes Try to accept that leicester city is in the hands of a businessman who is determined to make the club a success and he will do it by making the decisions he feels are right for the club , and that will make him richer and make us happier fans ( the two things are inextricably linked ) Telling a hugely successsful tycoon that has just "rescued" a floundering business that the club belongs to us ( in whatever sense you implied it ) will i'm sure quite rightly elicit a negative reaction from him . Even though your intentions for the club are good , I can assure you that if i were MM I would not have read past the first paragraph; sorry good luck to you, and all the best anyway with your correspondence anyway
ithuriel Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 i will probably get some stick for this but so what i've heard plenty of rumours so i decided to ask my brother. he does a part time job at the walkers and i have got a lot of info over the previous seasons from him though i rarely , if ever post it. he told me how things were being done at the club with our previous manager so i am not surprised he was asked to leave. lets just say slight control freak and treating players and staff in a childish way. i suppose if he had won all his games that would be overlooked but of course he did not. as for megson only time will tell i guess but his comment on that second , no third rate match of the day on itv1 sunday morning about the team sounded at least positive. saying for commitment the team deserved 10/10 but for intelligent play about5 or 6/10.therefore he knows the team at present is not good enough.
Raj Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 i will probably get some stick for this GO ON FCUK OFF! Only joking!!!

Hullfox Posted 21 September 2007 Author Posted 21 September 2007 Just to let you know that I spoke at quite some length today with Tim Davies who had been trying to contact me for a couple of days. Whilst he didn't let me into any secrets, I am convinced from our chat that he 100% believes that it was the right thing for the club. I fully accept his judgement. He was by no means patronising, it was like talking to someone who quite obviously cares a lot about the club as a fan as well as an employer. I don't think I'm generally someone who is easily impressed but today I was impressed, and I am happy once more to resume my roller coaster ride.

NorthernFox Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 I myself am quite calm at the moment and think only positive thoughts. We will win promotion this season. Mark my words. KEEP THE FAITH as is written. "Milan is a Leicester fan" Carpe Diem Gary (Hope spelling correct) CMON CITY

Bloody nice bloke that Tim! Hope that puts your mind at ease and hopefully other doubters can read this and realise that we all need to push in the right direction.

I am quite sure TD was sincere but, our sporting gesture and Forest fighting spirit apart, I'm a long way from being impressed with a lot of things at Leicester right now. I don't suppose he mentioned if there was any chance of ending the sort of tactical nonsense that cost us the game against QPR did he?. Cos that would be a start. But basically it might help if I had any idea why you're suddenly so impressed.
