I had to write to Milan

Probably a waste of time but here's what I said.

Dear Milan,

In your short time of owning Leicester City Football Club, I have been through nearly the full spectrum of emotions that I have previously endured during the previous thirty years in which I have watched this club which belongs to me and 30,000 others like me.

Disappointment, hope, annoyance and disbelief are regular visitors to the heads of this select bunch of which in the main I feel honoured to be part of. However, I currently feel as though I’ve been emotionally winded.

The sacking of Martin Allen seemed bizarre to many on the outside. The timing seemed even more so. Martin was no footballing genius but in his short time with us he bonded with the fans and he brought us attacking football which we have been deprived of for so long. His departure after 4 games in charge without explanation can only point to personal differences and we have no choice but to move on in the hope that your decision was right for the club and it’s supporters and not just one man’s pride.

To say that Gary Megson’s appointment was not universally well received would be an understatement. I have wrestled with the news for nearly 36 hours now and the feeling that best describes me is empty.

Milan, the only thing that drives me to attend the game on Saturday is hope.

As with most games, I will set off 6 hours before the game, driving anything up to 300 miles before getting to The Walkers earning myself the sort of weekly money that you are paying some of our players for less than a day’s effort.

More and more I despair of what is happening in football in general and what happens at my club at a seemingly accelerated rate.

I mentioned hope earlier and the thing that keeps me turning up home and away is that straw which we all clutch longingly.

I hope that Martin Allen had to go for the good of the club.

I hope that Gary Megson does the job that we require of him.

I hope that one day you will love the club as much as we who turn up week in week out do and you can bring me the emotions that I miss so much; the emotions derived from success, from winning and from feeling that the players care.

Then you’ll understand what I mean.

I hope but I doubt.

Yours sincerely

Even if Milan replies, it will be a token gesture. He's not going to account for his actions to the everyday fan, and he's definitely not going to explain the real reasons for Martin Allen's sacking.

I understand how you feel HF, but Mandaric won't give a damn.

Probably a waste of time but here's what I said.

I might have argued with you on every topic over the last two years but I sure as hell sympathise with you on this one and hope you elicit a plausible yet reassuring reply.

Okay I wouldn't demean myself by writing to Mandaric but I admire you for doing so and hope, just for once, that our self-serving chairman can somehow and truthfully justify his actions.

Cos I feel exactly as you do.

We may have different beliefs about the way forward but I have never been in so much despair as right now. Frustrated? I feel that every part of me is being squeezed from the inside and the resulting mental pain if more than I really want to tolerate

How I envy those with blind faith in Messiah Mandaric or those who blandly say we have to get behind the manager. How I would love to feel like they do. But I don't. Although of course I'll get behind him - but out iof principle not belief.

I feel that the club has placed itself in a chasm that has slippery sides and no handholds. It has trusted its future to a flawed mavarick and a manager for whom any means will justify the end.

If there is any joy ahead I can't see it. Any Keeganism I can't imagine it. All I can see is the functional. Not the means to a football end but simply to a financial end - maybe.

I am reminded about the song which told of the Devil coming down to Georgia and looking for a soul to steal.

Cos we seem surely to have sold our soul...that footballing essence that once set us apart as a little team which could take on big opposition because we played the game not just with passion and determination but with flair and no little abandon.

Now I feel that all reponsibility to the viewing public has been forsaken. That the only criteria today is collecting points - no matter how we do it, no matter how we mock the spirit of the game.

And the reason is simple. Money. And the fact that our team's loyalty is to the chairman now, cos he has the key to the safe, and not the fans.

Decent points BUT what choice do we have Thrac.

For years people have had the opportunity to put money into our club and no one has.

MM has and until a russian billionaire wnats us,we have no choice but to have blind faith in him.

We all wanted a manager who ticked EVERY box.

I just think what the future would have looked like for LCFC had we not got MM on board.

THAT situation seems more frighteneing to me personally.

What are we to do Thrac....What are we to do??? :dunno:

No Manager will tick every box though ever. Not for the manager or the fans.

We could have kept the manager we had but right now nothing. We've made our managerial bed and until MM gets fed up with the latest occupant we've got to hope that the springs are strong enough to bounce us towards the top of the League.

But surely you agree we are in a better situation under MM,(although we all know it is going to be a turbulent love affair)than without him?

What would we be looking forward to year in year out without him???

Guaranteed relegation dog fights???

But even if the latest manager propels us towards the top of the league, his position is by no means safe. With the unpredictability of the chairman, everyone is going to be on edge 99% of the time and nobody is ever going to be truly relaxed. Only time will tell if this hinders our performance over the course of the season, but what this club needs right now is stability. Not snap decisions and a different manager every other month.

I have no doubt whatsoever there would have been a new bidder had MM not taken over. MM took the club on because it made good business sense, not as an act of charity. It would have made good business sense to others as well.

Well they had enough opportunity to dig deep and no one did.

The likes of Andrew Taylor and his so called consortium all talked the talk but when it came down to it they didn't put their money where their mouths were.

And who else in this great City of ours ahs stumped up serious amounts of cash to transform us????

Posted
Gary Lineker, Emile Heskey.

Granted will always be legends for us City fans and helped save us from going bust.

But im talking about serious millions.

You couldn't have really forseen Heskey,Lineker etc...pumping in millions can you??

The likes of MM,like it or not HAS and will pump his money into LCFC.

Whether or not it works out the way he wants.....who knows!!!

All we,the fans can do is brace ourselves in tight and ride the rollercoaster which we no doubt will have to endure.

HF,

A telling letter and one I could have written myself although perhaps not so eloquently. The only area I would differ from you is that I wouldn't be travelling that far, I'd have given up. fortunately for me I can get to the game in 1/2 hour.

I hope you get a decent reply and that it isn't full of patronising mumbo jumbo cliches.

Enjoy the match you deserve it for the endurance of the travelling.

Our situation is only superficially better off - sure we have better players and a better chance of success but better off? Only if we succeed in getting promoted.

Failure to do so will now be totally catastrophic because there would be a high degree of chance that MM will leaves us with massive debts.

You say no one else wanted to buy the club before, do you think they will if we fail to get promoted with the relatively massive contracts that the new players have?

I believe we're firmly on the road to shit or bust, promotion is now not only a necessity for MM it is imperative for the future well being and existence of LCFC.

Only time will tell if we are 'better off' under MM how much time we have is also a big unknown.

an excellent letter i hope you get a reply. Agree with the comments that we are in a better position with MM than under the old consortium. The squad looks and is far better now. A comment made by the pompey fan at the pre season game sticks in my mind that good things will come with MM if we are patient. I only HOPE this is the case.

Good letter but i hope megson can do the job but we wont have to worry about getting relegated he wont get the chance look how quick martin allen went i dont think MM will wait that long

I got told by my mate the other day that his gran lives next door to paul henderson. And paul henderson said to his gran that before the forest game martin allen went on holiday and told the coaching staff to do more training than usual. Paul said that they was very tired and that the players complained about it to MM and that was why martin allen went.

That makes me smile.

I still don't see what is wrong with GM as manager.

Also, MA would never have even been attracted to LCFC had Milan not come in.

People are so goddamn ungrateful
