lol I was out so didnt see it tonight but its a quality show.

Right thats me done for tonight as a busy day lies ahead. To get back on topic, I doubt theer is much chance of Kaebi featuring today regardless of fitness as we now have Stearman playing OK in arguably Kaebi`s wing-back position. Lets hope we see the lad sooner rather than later as I have a feeling we are wasting a talented player who will raise his game in the first team.

We have a boring manager who plays boring football and will make us all grey and miserable this time next season, that's if you're not already.

As much as it pains me to say, Kaebi doesn't seem likely to play, he was the one player I was keeping my eye out for when the rumours started. I was so happy whena press conference was called that day and I havn't seen anything much of him since.

I haven't seen the team since we went back 3 does it work ? The wing backs should have a lot less covering to do. We always seem to play too deep and this would be ridiculous with this formation.

The other day I started a thread about people making knee-jerk reactions on players who they haven't really see play and you have done the same thing with Kaebi from reading your posts. You have almost written him off at RB and suggested he can only play at RM and even then you don't seem quite convinced despite his experiences in International football. What i`d like to say to that is two words....

STEPHEN CLEMENCE!!

Can you remember 2 or 3 games into the season when you was slating the Clem signing so much that you actually listed about 12 attributes and said that Levi would do a better job in central midfield than Clem was doing??!! If memory serves me you saw him play in pre-season too and made a decision on him. We`ll, you did make that snap judgment and it has been proven to be ridiculously way off the mark as he has arguably been our best outfield player this season.

Lets see Kaebi in the first team with good players and not make a decision on the basis of him playing with the academy lads and reserves.

I did nothing of the sort. Clemence had a sub-standard game and it was commented on. I also said I was a bit underwhelmed with his close-season performances. Otherwise I've been pleased with guy and said he ranks second only to Fulop among our summer signings. Just look at my player ratings.

My reference to Porter was as an attacking midfielder - I don't really see Clemence as an attacker midfielder, more a holding or prompting midfielder.

And I've seen Kaebi with perfectly decent players around him. You can persist all you like. So far at City, the two players have not been comparable even allowing for Clemence taking a little while to settle.

I cant be bothered now but when I have a spare hour on my hands I will go through the threads to find your Levi vs Clemence list and your opinion that Levi could do a better job from what you had seen through pre-season and about 2 or 3 games into the season.

Whatever I said in the context of that occasion it is quite clear that Clemence is an valued and effective squad first team squad member and Kaebi has a long way to go to make any threat for a first team place. And Megson strikes me as the last bloke on earth who would take needless risks forn their own sake.

Not one member of our squad is really letting anyone down. If Kaebi seriously wants to join them then he's getting regular opportunities to state his case - opportunities he's not taken up to now apart from in one game.

And if Gradel ever comes back he'll probably find life even harder because Gradel scored for fun in non-League football.

Thats just the point Thracian, you say stuff on the basis of a couple of games and at the time was slating Clemence and a few games later you have joined the majority to rate him as an important if not key player within the squad. You have written off the likes of Fryatt and wouldn't have been bothered if we sold him and now despite us signing Cort, DJ and Sappleton and trying MDV once again, you now admit to MF being worthy of a place in the side!

You then talk without hesitation of throwing any player that has come through the academy straight into the first team but when we sign an International player who is under 23 and over 50 caps, you expect him to rot in the reserves unless he manages to shine every game!

Anyway, there are many subject slink to the club we both love that we will always disagree on as I think our visions on football are chalk and cheese.

You're trying to make me think in the same way you do - a way that is fixed, permanent, pre-conceived. Football and footballers are not like that. Things change all the time.

I may have reservations about a player or that player might perform badly. Either way he is likely to be criticised.

That doesn't mean those reservations should continue to be voiced if they fly in the face of what a player subsequently does on the field.

The same applies to managers.

In Fryatt's case he has been a different player this season - most people can see that - but that does not necessarily mean even now that I'd be "bothered" if we sold him. That would depend entirely on what we got for him and whether a better player replaced him.

That attitude doesn't apply specifically to Fryatt. It applies to anyone. And the same attitude explains why I might want someone in the side - it need not necessarily because he's the greatest in that position that we've ever had, but because he's the best at this time.

And to make it clear. Overall I am not unreservedly impressed by any of our strikers just now. Improved or otherwise.

If a guy plays well/recovers his form/improves or whatever, he gets praise and is likely to justify his place. If not he's going to be criticised.

Fryatt this season has looked better than Fryatt last season and has deserved his place ahead of others. Most fans will be hoping he keeps that form but it DOESN'T mean he necessarily deserves to be first choice long term. That depends on lots of things.

As for the Academy players I certainly don't talk about throwing ANY player in. Not at any time and there are many I wouldn't dream of nominating.

Gradel, like King, Sheehan, Wesolowski, Mattock etc. is not ANY player. He's a free-scoring winger at a time when we need one. And I've mentioned Gradel, not because he's perfect, but because I believe he may prove the best we've got right now or at least a worthy alternative/substitute to Newton (not Kaebi) at this stage.

Your constant repeating of the case for Kaebi - international caps or not - simply doesn't impress. First of all he's injured and secondly, in marked contrast to Fryatt, he's done very little in the reserves to advance his case. Indeed, last week, he set it back considerably.

And it is NOT as you suggest that Kaebi will have to "shine in every game" either. Where do you pluck such ideas from? I've stated my criteria many times - that players should be able to muster 7 to 7.5 good/acceptable games out of 10.

Kaebi's managed 50-50 at most. He doesn't meet the criteria yet by a distance.

Newton makes a much stronger case, having managed about 60-65% good/acceptable in all games I've seen play since his signing in the summer - and at a higher level than Kaebi on two occasions.

Fryatt has been suffering with a weird injury for a couple of seasons and is now over that and getting fitter each game. Doesn't he have special boots because of his dodgy legs ?!
