Webbo Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Academy Fall To Gunners Posted on: Sat 22 Sep 2007 Leicester City's under 18 side fell to their first defeat of the season when they went down 5-0 at Arsenal on Saturday morning. The Foxes went into the game having collected 13 points from their opening five fixtures of the campaign. But they would come unstuck against a very impressive Gunners line up. Speaking after the game, Academy manager Jon Rudkin said: "The contest was finely poised at 1-0 at half time and we could have got back into the game at the start of the second half. "We can take a number of positives out of the game though. We will have learnt as much out of that match as we did against Portsmouth last week." City: Pentney, Cox, Rowe-Turner, Garner, Magunda, Chambers, McKay, Kee (O'Neill), Sappleton (Burns), King, Tuttle (Howard)
Brainy Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 5-0 for both the first team and academy. At least the first teamers beat Derby.
Lillehamring Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 some of them played for the reserves this week, no wonder they fell apart.... does anyone know what is happening at this football club??????
Brainy Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 does anyone know what is happening at this football club?????? Dramatic Its only one result..
Thracian Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Doubtless Arsenal wanted revenge for our beating them in the Academy play-off semi-final last season. Mighty glad I chose to work today.
Geo V Posted 23 September 2007 Posted 23 September 2007 We shouldn't expect too much from these young lads who have excelled at this level for a little while now. This may be a minor blip but Im sure they would have learned more from this hammering than they did when they gave out the beatings.
Nath Posted 23 September 2007 Posted 23 September 2007 Yet, no doubt, they played with more passion than our first teamers.

Thracian Posted 23 September 2007 Posted 23 September 2007 I think it would have done you some good to see that the academy aren't infallible after all. Since when have I thought them infallible? I was surprised they beat Arsenal last season and they were extremely fortunate to win the Play-offs final against Sunderland. Just because I take pride in City's young players doesn't mean I'm under any illusions. And just because I believe certain young players are better than other alternatives for the first team doesn't mean I think they are the finished article or even that I'd expect them to be first choices in any squad of mine at this stage of their careers. Certainly not in such numbers. However, if they did play I'd make sure they had people around them who could compliment their game, knew what was expected of them and knew that I had the utmost confidence in them.
City Lad Posted 23 September 2007 Posted 23 September 2007 Its a shame to see us lose by that score line but they have got of to a good start by the looks of it
