Megson Interview

also check out Curtis Davies's interview too!!!

he is almost suicidal

calls himself a 'pub team player'

I reckon O`Neil told him to say that so he brings down his transfer value. Villa we`ll then get him on the cheap lol

As for GM, he says all the cliches and right things in this interview although he was shown to be either naive or modest, depending on how you look at it when he said football isn't about tactics but hard work, integrity blah blah blah! Of course its about picking the right tactics and players who then have to do a job and he should pat himself on the back for outwitting MON in this game as it seems that Villa couldn't really play against the system.

Very different style to Allen there. I think his comments put the glory on the players and I think that will be good for their confidence so I think thats a smart thing to do. At the end of the day its not about how much we like him but getting the players to play confidently. Allen was all me, me, me.

I gte fed up with reading about how we spent the last 3 seasons in a relegation battle. That was Before Milan spen some money, therefore not really relevant. Just annoys me slightly.

Boss On Stalemate

Posted on: Tue 02 Oct 2007

Leicester City boss Gary Megson said he could not fault his side for effort and commitment following their 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Walkers Stadium on Tuesday night.

Both sides created chances on the evening, but it would be the defences that would come out on top.

Speaking in the post match press conference, Megson said: "I was pleased with certain aspects of our performance tonight. I thought that we competed terrifically well, but what we were lacking was real quality.

"The way we are playing at the moment we must have somebody who can get hold of the ball, slow it down and enable our wing backs and our midfield to get forward. We didn't have that.

"The bottom line is we must have quality at the football club. The more quality players you have got, working as hard as they have done tonight, the better results you are going to get.

"It irks me a little bit is when you hear some of the comments. We have got a 17-year-old wing-back and an 18-year-old who has been chucked into it. They aren't exactly coming into Real Madrid's team. This place has been on its backside for three years and it will take time to build and take it forward.

"I saw Wolves earlier in the season and they absolutely plastered Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. I saw them again at Stoke and it was the same result. Although they have probably have had more shots than ourselves they have probably had them all from 30-yards.

"There were a lot of good things about our performance tonight, but as I say we need more quality."

Megson brought 18-year-old midfielder Andy King into the side in place of the injured Stephen Clemence.

And Megson was full of praise for the debutant who put in a solid performance in the middle of the park.

He added: "I have only been here a fortnight and I have seen him play a couple of times. I like what I have seen. I thought he did exceptionally well for an 18-year-old playing against that side."

Im glad he talks of quality players, maybe he`ll start picking the likes of Kaebi then? Also it gives me hope that he will bring in quality loan signings.

I think he also had a pop at us again lol

Nice line about the club being on its back for the last 3 years.

Think we should all remember this fact.

Success won't happen overnight as we have alot of shite to clear out!!!

I don't think he'll ever be an adventurer but he does seem to understand where some of our faults lie. He makes some good points. Can't see what that has to do with picking Kaebi.

I ownt start this all again but Kaebi apparently arrived as a quality player didnt he?

Back to GM, I have faith in the guy because he did manage the likes of Koumas at WBA so does appreciate ball playing and creative players as well as the hard-workers. Lets hope he manages to attract some creativity to the team soon.

Bottom line is Megson doesn't appear to think that Kaebi is any good.

In the post match press conference he said "we played 4-4-2 at Charlton and the score could have been 44-2." Then something along the lines of needing that extra quality to push the play forward but right now "we don't have the ability to do that."

Surely if he has seen, and stated that he has seen, enough quality in King to debut him in the midfield against a strong Wolves team, and enough quality in Mattock to continue his services as a wing back, then the only reason he wouldn't be willing to chance a supposedly good winger is that he mustn't think much of him at all. He would have had the opportunity to see Kaebi play a lot more than many of us.

I'm starting to trust the man as I think he analyses things well which has been lacking from previous managers... Remember Rob Kelly's "very disappointing. Some good chances there but you have to take it on the chin" and nor did Martin analyse things to my liking.

Any quality in midfield and up front, and we would have won easily last night, especially the way we were playing in the second half. It's the second balls, and the final passes we're struggling to pick up/find.

He may be right! :o

I feel like :frusty: when it comes to this club. I can see the problems, you can see the problems, there are very small children out there who can see the problems, but do any of the managers we've had?

:dunno:

That's it!

I am sending my 6-year old to have a meeting with Milan.

Right now

The only problem I foresee with her at the reigns is that she might only pick players who look like Frank Lampard..

Aah! the truth from the mouths of babes ;)

How true.

We need an ugly players thread, compile a list of 11 and forward it onto Milan / Megson.

It's your niece - you start it
