Firstly, this isn't some MM style overreaction where my aim is to have a go at supporters who maybe aren't in total agreement in what he is doing with the club, but merely a question to try to understand why so many of our fans overreact on certain issues within our club without really giving things a chance to make a "proper" judgment. I`ll give you some examples....

DJ Campbell - He has been here five mins and was signed by MA in our biggest transfer fee paid since the PT days. Not only has he that burden on his shoulders but is at a new club and after starting well enough with 2 in 4 I think it was, saw his mentor who dragged him out of conference football a few years ago then sacked. All of a sudden some fans think that with all that thats gone on for the lad that somehow he is useless. Why??! Give him a chance!

Gary Megson - Before he came some moaned, as he walked through the door more people moaned and once being here there is a real sense of doom and gloom by some people and the boards are riddled with quite disrespectful ginger remarks on their signatures and on the boards. I tried to joke it up by saying I would by a ginger wig and stuff but all quite light-hearted but people having a real dislike for the bloke still despite him only being here 5 minutes. Why don't we just have a bit of enthusiasm for a new manager and all back him without some elements of our fans thinking he shite and will always be shite.

Joe Mattock (and most of the academy players) - Why do we expect so much of these kids and why do people have one extreme with them from being the dogs knads (like people were doing with Billy Kee when he scored 7 in 2 games for the academy, some wanting him in the FIRST TEAM SQUAD) and then the other extreme where anyone young is looked upon as Conference material without us really getting the chance to assess them as players? Joe Mattock is the perfect example. Built up to the hily by some, plays well back end of the season, starts this season a bit shakily and then people want him out and after one good game yesterday, he is now our permanent left-back??!! Young players will be inconsistent and we shouldn't put too much on their shoulders and nurture their talents, whether that means by loaning them out and deciding they are not at the standard needed for Championship football or involving them in the squad.

Milan Mandaric - He seems to have gone from our saviour to the devil to I'm not sure where at the moment. Some elements of our fans didn't want him from the get-go and would like nothing more than to be proved right, ie he is bad for the club. In fact i`ll go as far as to say some want him to fail miserably. I cant help but ask why??! He has put his money where his mouth is and backed MA in the transfer market and has since then added more loan signings with GM talking of more to come.

Now I can understand people having made an opinion of someone like Elvis who has played quite a few times for us and looked shocking with a few glimpses of ability in between or Stephen Hughes and AJ who were garbage last season after a long run in the side but why are we so obsessed in making such snap judgments and have these knee-jerk reactions on people without really giving them a chance to show what they can do? Can we not at least give people a proper chance before starting to either pelt stones at them or speak so highly of them like they are Ronaldinhoesque?!! PLEASE!!! :scarf:

Very true.

I have supported the appointment of GM from day one as it was MM's decision and he is our chairman.

These people who have started moaning and lambasting MM are not true fans!!! If Taylor was still chairman, we would be in a financial mire now and the summer signings would have consisted of players like Adam Boyd, Sol Davis, Gary Borrowdale etc ie. shite :o

I think DJ will be a good addition eventually, and if not then blame Martin Allen!!!! :S

Cheeky sod! You don't have to read them if the amount of words on display is too much for you. Just reda the first couple of sentences and then move on???!

Geo is right. Sometimes we are expecting way too much of our club and we jump on the gun quicker than Nigella Lawson can make you come.

good points, well put geo

my reply ( for what its worth)is ,

I think its just in the nature of all football supporters ( not just leicester ) to behave like this ; its a chance to behave a little bit childish in ways that are unacceptable in other parts of your life and perhaps it helps get rid of frustrations and anger.

I try not to look too deep into a football fans reactions and passions , because they do not bear scrutiny in any logical way and seem far more related to primitive tribal behaviour

I don't want to get into an argument of what makes a true fan as for me even if you live the other side of the Atlantic and only pop on for matchdays to see how we got on is good enough for me. However, I cant ever remembering our fans being so judgmental on players, managers and chairman after only a couple of months. I wasn't on these types of forums pre-January this year so it may be the norm for people to react like this.

After years of dross football, clueless managers, administration, relegation battles etc., I think most people are getting a little over-excited of what might lay ahead.

Fans in general are quite critical of their team, but all MM is asking for is our trust and to give him time. That's not too much is it.

Mate I get bored and often your problem is you express something using 200 words when you could of got your point across using half that amount.

I understand all the demented ways and means of football fans but I dont like it when we turn on our own. Living in London I must admit I haven't got the mates around me where I can sit down and talk about my team like I used to when I lived up there and end up being dragged into their crap on Spurs, Arsenal and the rest but whenever I have even remotely tried to have a pop at a manager like Jol or call a Spurs player like Taino useless they jump down my throat! Some of our fans like moaning for the sake of moaning and overreact to the simplest of situations without giving the players and backroom staff the chance to show what they can do. As I said on the original thread I get the Hughes, AJ or even RK decision because they had a fair crack at the whip but the likes of GM, DJ and some of the others haven't had that opportunity yet.

BTW Nasir nice to see your avatar back where it should be lol

this forum has become a bit prone to attracting the emotionally incontinent much like the OS did.

The points you make are valid - a period of stability would be welcome- megson wears the haunted look of someone who has just received a dreaded vote of confidence; it would be nice to see him bring some smiles and look relaxed and appear to be enjoying his new job -that will communicate itself to the team and the supporters who are looking for some hopeful signs.

Thats the thing. We have a new team, new owner, new manager and still at times over the last two weeks reading some of the stuff on here has made me feel like a Morrisey track used to, suicidal!

BTW lol Zingari

DJ Campbell i really dont see as a 25+ goals a season striker!

He was at Yeading.

Using Thracian model I'm sure we could somehow prove that makes him a top European striker.

Someone like Chris Iwelumo was nothing more than a bit of a journeyman forward but managed 20 goals last seen for Colchester which was way and above anywhere near his best seasons tally. In fact I don't think he ever scored double figures in a season prior to last year and he is 29. Its not easy for a striker to get to that mark but you would have thought that a player like DJ who managed 9 in 19 last season but did make quite a few sub appearances. Who knows if he can or cant get 20 if he played most games for us but what I dont get is how he can be written off after a half-decent start.

Surely those who are overreacting are the ones who refuse to hear a word of criticism against Mr. Mandaric? He, after all, is the one who has only been at the club for 8 months and we´ve been useless for half a decade now. Realistically, we are currently not very good and have just dismissed our supposed saviour after 96 days in the job, since then we´ve looked very much as bad as we have in the past 5 or 6 years. Who's getting carried away, exactly?
