..............and a Premiership scalp!

Anyone reckon it can be done?

Scunny away

Sheff U home

Barnsley home

Chelsea away

The 9 points is a distinct possibility and who knows with that behind us anything can happen at the bridge :S

I'm very happy we have gone into the break with a win behind us, very happy.

We have'nt had a massively easy start to the campaign, we've had some difficult teams, now we have a chance to pick up some points and go on some sort of run. I think out of those 3 league games we should be aiming for 6 points minimum, Scunny away will not be easy, but a point at least, Sheff U in their current form are there for the taking, and Barnsley at home we should really beat. So 7 points would be good, 9 points even better.

Not asking too much am i?!

Gonna be a reall tough 4 games

Scunny (a) A really hard place to go and get a result. Reckon it will be a draw.

Sheff utd (h) Should win with the form they are in but we are rubbish at home so i don't know about this one

Barnsley (h) I think we should be beating the likes of Barnsley at home but they are bang in form and again we are not great at home

Chelsea (a) NO.

Inclined to agree.

Chelski is a different proposition though.

Our lack of fire power up front could be our biggest problem there.

Any ideas?

Will Megson put 10 men behind the ball and play for penalties?

We'd probably stand a good chance with that scenario, especially with Fulop in goal.

to win the two home games we'll need to double our home wins for the whole of 2007 so far.

tbh, each fixture is a potential slip up, sheffield united and chelsea are obviously tough games but sheffield united have been terrible so far but terrible spells are there to be broken... barnsley is the type of game we usually edge, and s****horpe is the type of game we never find our feet... chelsea we will lose End Of

No flies on you is there davieG? lol

For all his doubters Megson is building something of a decent record since being at the club and I see it as a distinct possibility that we will come out of the 3 league games unbeaten.

Chelsea are a different story but apart from bragging rights I'm not too bothered if we lose that one. It'll be a fun night whatever happens.

Both Cardiff and QPR won at home for the first time in months so anything is possible!

I think Sheff U will be difficult to beat. I know they have the ultimate fudge up merchant with Bryan Robson there but they usually do well against us. I can remember them banging in 5 at Filbo one season when they were on the way to promotion the buggers! Barnsley and Scunny are games we should be winning though and I think we`ll get at least 7 points from the 3 games.

The Chelski game is something totally different. If we can get out of the match with no injuries and suspensions and keep the score down to respectability I`d be happy.

I'd be delighted with 7.

No offence to anybody who has posted, but obviously this kind of attitude is terrible.

No matter where we want to finish in the league, 1st or 10th, we have to approach EVERY game as if we want to win it. S***thorpe away, we should win. Sheffield Utd (h), we should win (what with our fortress of a walkers stadium  ) and Barnsley are all MUST win games. If the team turn up for a match playing for a draw, that is what we will get if we are lucky. Playing for a draw usually means loosing by a goal in a tight match. Play for a win and you will, if not draw.

Chelsea away. Granted that is a whole new kettle of fish, but playing for a draw wont work. You have to take the game to them. As previously mentioned (Don't know by who, and CBA to look), we dont have the strike force capable of competing like we would want to. But sticking 10 men behind the ball wont work. In my opinion, we need to have a midfield who are capable of holding up the ball and being patient (step forward Clemence!). Failing that, as we wont realistically be able to break down there multi-million pound defence, 90 minutes of hoof-ball and a lucky Fryatt toe poke could be our best option for a 1-0 win!!

On a more positive note, its stopped raining

I think you may have missed the point.

I don't think anyones saying play for a draw, you'll very rarely see any fan say play for a draw, we're commenting on how likely it is that we will win the next three games, and as I said I'd be delighted with 7 points.

I'd have to agree with the general concensus here. 7 points would do me fine, but I really think all 9 are there for the taking. Sheff U are attrocious right now, and Barnsley should be another easy 3 points, but going into the S****horpe match with the win at Hillsborough under our belts will be a massive boost. If we'd have drawn or lost to Sheff W, it might well have been a different proposition, but we didn't. I'm (reasonably) confident we can pick up all 9 points.

I don't think for a minute we'll beat Chelsea, but if we go into the game with the same attitude we had against Villa, then we might scrape it, and snatch it on penalties - especially since we'll have Fulop. Or Meggers might just play it defensively, fail, and we'll get a hiding. Still, as long as we don't get to much of a hiding, i'll be happy.

Christ, i'm actually quite upbeat about City at the moment. I'm thinking a jaunt on the Optimistic Bus might actually be a good idea atm :Plol

I'd just take one game at a time. We are slowly becoming a team with more options and more players who effect things. Megson should be concentrating on continuing that improvement.

That would appear to be his intention judging by the fact he's ordered the players in for double training sessions during the international break and that shows exactly the right attitude.

Our recent away performances at Villa and Sheffield should be the springboard for further development not for an attitude of complacency or mission accomplished. There is still much to be done.

Looking beyond the next game is one of the most self destructive things you can do in football. Thankfully it is one of Megson's strengths that he appears to know that 100% concentration on the immediate task ahead is paramount.

We're not playing well enough to take three points for granted against any of these sides. It's amazing how one win can blind fans to the previous five or six games of fairly mediocre football.

 It's good to see a few people are not wearing blue tinted specs.

Lets at least win the odd game at home before we start condemming sides like S****horpe (11th) & Barnsley (6th) who are performing way better than us.

I agree completely, but if you don't go for 9 points you can't expect to get 9 points :)

I'm not being blinded by optimism at all. Really though, these games should prove a lot easier than our previous fixtures. We're going into a break with a good win under our belts, and when we return, we won't have any opposition that should prove too taxing until we meet Chelsea.

I agree though, the football has been mostly mediocre (even if we HAVE got the best defensive record in our league) but we've only lost 2 in all competitions, so on some levels we must be doing something right. With the win on Saturday, this could be the perfect time to get a good run going.

Mind you, if we pick up less than 3pts against S****horpe, that could all fall apart...

I'll just stop talking now... lol

Who said anything about not going for them?

I'm sure we never went out to not win the 14 games we haven't won at home in 2007.

We're not playing though are we lol

Of course the team are going to go for 9 points, every football team normally trys to win every game.

However what we think has little bearing on how the team perform, and 9 points from those three games, sorry I don't see it.
