JoeyB Posted 11 October 2007 Author Posted 11 October 2007 No they mean: 'E' Economic - but i dont know what to put in there and 'S' Socio-Cultural - again dont know what to but in it! Its mainly to be done with a business, which the one im studying is a 'Butchers'
James. Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 For a butcher's: Economic - price paid for the different meats (this will fluctuate and therefore poses an economic risk), farmer's subsidies and impact on supply, general economic health of local area and the country as a whole, impact of foreign imports of meat, disposable income of consumers (to an extent a butcher's might be considered a luxury as the same product may be cheaper from a supermarket). Social - attitude towards eating meat, vegetarianism, pressure from animal welfare groups, meat trends (does butcher respond to changing customer needs - venison may become fashionable?), scares such as BSE and foot and mouth and their impact on consumer thinking. If you really want to impress you could look at the full model sometimes known as LE PEST & Co. Legal Economic Political Environmental Social Technological Competition

Its actually Sociol- Cultral more about demographics, age trends and skills avaible etc If you really want to impress you could look at the full model sometimes known as LE PEST & Co. Legal Economic Political Environmental Social Technological Competition might of just saved my ass! didnt mention it has to be handed in tomorrow!

You're only cheating yourself and all that bollocks. yeah i know what you mean Social - attitude towards eating meat, vegetarianism, pressure from animal welfare groups, meat trends (does butcher respond to changing customer needs - venison may become fashionable?), scares such as BSE and foot and mouth and their impact on consumer thinking. Its actually Socio- Cultural more about demographics, age trends and skills avaible etc
James. Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 yeah i know what you mean Its actually Socio- Cultural more about demographics, age trends and skills avaible etc Well butchery (err is that really the right word?!) is a skilled profession so I guess you would look at the skills in the local area and whether there would be any difficulty in hiring appropriately qualified butchers. It may be that no one wants to be a butcher any more which will present a challenge for the business in ensuring staff are aware of all the issues, problems and skills required to do the job competently. There might be an argument that younger people prefer the convenience of a supermarket therefore depending on the demographics of the area the butcher may face stiffer competition with other meat retailers. Personally I think the points I suggested in my first post would still be considered "socio-cultural" so you should include them as well.
