Bryn Posted 21 October 2007 Posted 21 October 2007 I agree that the midfield did a poor job of retaining possession wholeheartedly. I don't think Sheehan and Stearman can be blamed for not getting forward enough because they really weren't given the option. Even Clemence looked panicky in his passing, and whilst Chambers had admirable energy, he lacks the technical attributes to play central midfield. Newton was quite lazy at times and his passing was poor.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 21 October 2007 Posted 21 October 2007 Should have one replay shows not offside never looked like conceding a goal and also matty fryatt should have nailed his chance. Also Hume sending off WTF
Brainy Posted 21 October 2007 Posted 21 October 2007 To be fair, even if Hume was let off for his challenge, he was probably going to see red at some point later in the game.
Koke Posted 21 October 2007 Posted 21 October 2007 I think we can take a lot of positives out of the game. In previous years we'd have lost this sort of games but even after Hume got sent off we never looked like conceding. We were nothing short of outstanding at the back. The system Megson is trying to install can work with the right personell. We just dont have that right now. There are two positions that needs to be addressed asap. An attacking/creative midfielder and another striker. Fryatt is hot and cold and he hasn't impressed me to say the least.
Bryn Posted 21 October 2007 Posted 21 October 2007 To be fair, even if Hume was let off for his challenge, he was probably going to see red at some point later in the game. Agreed. I really don't know why he wasn't subbed.
Corky Posted 21 October 2007 Posted 21 October 2007 Agreed. I really don't know why he wasn't subbed. Probably because he is bigger threat than DJ (look at my tattoos) Campbell.
Webbo Posted 21 October 2007 Posted 21 October 2007 Agreed. I really don't know why he wasn't subbed. I thought he'd have been subbed at half time. You could see he was going to get sent off after the first booking.
Asha Posted 21 October 2007 Posted 21 October 2007 Probably because he is bigger threat than DJ (look at my tattoos) Campbell.
