TrickyTrev Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 It's hard to think of anything I'd hate more than O'Leary and Frank Clarke. For pity's sake Milan show some sodding mercy. David O'Leary brought players like Ian Harte, Alan Smith, Jonathon Woodgate and Harry Kewell from promising youth team players to title challenging, nearly european conquering, superstars. He also did it with flair and attractive attacking intent. TBH it sounds like he managed that club in EXACTLY the style you are asking for. So why do you oppose the potential appointment? I also thought he had a good first season at Villa. MON has had a hard time turning it round, the squad he inhereted was only ever capable of mid table, which is exactly the point O'Leary was making. Some people really wouldn't be hppy with anything short of Arsene Wenger.
lookwhaticando Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 So the job's still open for O'Leary. Thank fuck. Shame that Gérard Houllier is already employed by the French FA... and wouldn't join us anyway, as he'd be a great appointment. One can but dream.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 Remember this is the guy who took Leeds from a boring mid table side to a champion league semi final and also top 5 in the premiership. He has had one bad spell at villa ... Still he had no money and even MON would find it hard at villa with no money. The guy played for Arsenal all his life, so he knows what fans demand. Stop talking sense, some just love to hate people for obscure reasons!
teblin Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 I honestly thought O'Leary was a cert for the ROI job -------------------------------------------I'v suddenly got this terrible feeling -------------------------------------!!!! Where has this come from???? What choo Talking about?

Master Fox Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 Yeah! If this is true then good bloody choice Milan I must say! Anyone who wouldn't welcome the appointment of O'Leary is an idiot.
Hullfox Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 Im pretty sure that some people on here would moan if we did get Wenger!! Yeah, what's that cheese eating surrender monkey ever achieved?

David O'Leary hates us, he hated us when he was at Villa. Even though we beat Villa 13 times in five years O'Leary never rated the team, MON or the Club. I dont like the bloke

I dont like the bloke Don't think anyone does, he is a complete TWAT, right up there with Souness, Reid and Warnock.....oh yeh all the managers we got linked with this year....Shocking!

When he did, Villa beat us three times in one season. I don't think we'll get him. He's never had to bother with lower-league football before and this is hardly the time or the place for him to start.
FilboFox Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 Hmm... I dunno about O'Leary... he did well at Leeds... and look what happened to them once he left...
STUHILL Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 Hmm... I dunno about O'Leary... he did well at Leeds... and look what happened to them once he left... Yeh I think it was mainly his and chairmans fault though for over-spending on players and wages so the club went it to meltdown afterwards.
FilboFox Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 Yeh I think it was mainly his and chairmans fault though for over-spending on players and wages so the club went it to meltdown afterwards. But he still did well at Leeds and likes to play some attacking football atb times... plus, looks to get the best out of youth! Although I wouldn't want him here over some personally...
Malinki Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 hmm, intresting that.... so you mention the fact he had no money at villa as a reason for him doing badly, but fail to mention the millions and millions he had at leeds as a reason for him doing well.... Quoted For Truth!! Even I could build a side challenging for 5th place in the premiership with the obscene amount of cash that o'dreary had to spend at leeds. I'd almost prefer Reid to O'Leary

Simi Posted 8 November 2007 Posted 8 November 2007 He seems to be one of those mangers that has got worse with time. I'm pretty sure after he left Villa he was disliked by a lot of their fans. Everyday the names that are coming out are really uninspiring.
