Raj Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 On a serious note(unlike me!) youd think that with all the so called'Quality' players at Englands disposal, qualification would be a certainty. McClaren was never anyones first choice,he was just lucky to be associated with Sir Alex at manU and he hardly set the world alight at MBoro(Would have been even worse if the Chairman Gibson didnt give him millions and millions to spend!) Im sure i heard Paul Parker say that England NOT qualifying would actually be beneficial in the long run. I agree with him Instead of qualifying and papering over the cracks, the old faggots at FA would have to do something to sort the mess out form the top level. I'll stop now as even im bored!
ASH17LCFC Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Should off trashed um first half. Thing with us, we make loads of chances but don't put them away and TBH Austria are really shite. David Platt is a complete and utter tit ... Got the good performance we needed before are massive game on Wednesday ... Come 8:00 tommorrow we shall be out. Still they said if England and Scotland don't make it to Euro 2008 ... Gonna have a home international tournament

ASH17LCFC Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 I'm sure Premier League clubs will be overjoyed to see that return, with the prospect of their megabucks stars being crocked by lower-league cloggers... So what, they are footballers at the end of the day and Scotland England would be and always is a tasty match. So you're saying that you wouldn't like to see this happen if we both don't get through ? Atleast there be some passion in these games.

So you're saying that you wouldn't like to see this happen if we both don't get through ? At least there be some passion in these games. Too right - there'd be passion on and off the pitch, wherever the game was played. It would be like World War Three! Plod wouldn't be impressed and I doubt the public would be either. And why revive the myth that Scotland are our biggest rivals? It's like comparing Leicester City with Hinckley United. The FA should be seeking to compete with the likes of France and Germany rather than prove themselves as the biggest fish in a small (and stagnant) pond..
Raj Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 But the way the two teams are playing at the moment it would probably be a more close run game than England playing France or Germany!!!
Lord Nibblington Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 I'm sure Premier League clubs will be overjoyed to see that return, with the prospect of their megabucks stars being crocked by lower-league cloggers... Which is why there'll be a sudden rash of end of season injuries.

Micky Ruddle Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Talking about U21.. How did Joe Mattock get on last night? Apparently cleared one off the line Stearman was on bench so they say.
Ultra Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Apparently cleared one off the line Stearman was on bench so they say. He was. Didn't come on though. I don't think there's another left-back in the squad, so Mattock will probably keep his place for the game in Portugal on Tuesday.
Wycombe Fox Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Talking about U21.. How did Joe Mattock get on last night? England U21 2-0 Bulgaria U21 England Under-21's maintained their 100% record for Euro 2009 qualification as they beat Group Three rivals Bulgaria at the MK Dons' stadium. Bulgaria looked the better side in the first half but Gabriel Agbonlahor nodded in a James Milner cross after 40 minutes to put the home side in front. The lively Theo Walcott nodded wide and then spurned a chance to put England further ahead by seeing a shot saved. But Walcott did win a late penalty and Milner slotted it in for the win. Bulgaria will have felt aggrieved at going into the interval behind after they passed the ball with confidence with England struggling for possession. They almost equalised shortly after going behind but Leicester's 17-year-old left-back Joe Mattock, who became the second youngest player to ever represent England Under-21s, cleared off the line. Almost immediately, Valeri Domovchiyski was put through on goal only to badly scuff his shot after a good first touch. England changed formation after the break as defensive midfielder Fabrice Muamba came on for striker Matt Derbyshire and this helped the home side contain their visitors more easily. Aston Villa's Agbonlahor was worryingly injured late on when he fell awkwardly. Walcott was moved into the central striker role for Agbonlahor and wanted to take the spot-kick he earned after 81 minutes. He was not initially happy at being overruled as Milner calmly scored to secure a fifth win out of five for England in their qualifying campaign.

I like the sound of that! Ok, to play devil's advocate for a moment.... on second thoughts... maybe this needs its own thread...
