... Owen has gone off injured.

Nice one Steve. This fixture was a well good idea.

I'm only listening on the radio. Sounds crap. So we'll go into Wednesday (if it actually matters) high on confidence.

What a load of bollocks.

1-0 to us at HT, Crouch.

Great.

So the only worthwhile outcome of this game as it currently stands is that we now don't have our best striker for POTENTIALLY (but admittedly not that likely) the biggest game since the World Cup quarter final against Portugal.

Rubbish.

Don't think you can blame McLaren for this, this'd be the FA's doing.

Fair point although I would've thought if Steve had vehemently opposed this match it wouldn't have gone ahead...

Unlikely. There'll be far too much money involved for that to happen.

You may well be right. Although doesn't it strike you as incredibly stupid that in search of short term cash the FA would jeapodise the build up to one of our most important games (should Israel do a job for us). I can only think that McClaren thought it was a good idea too which I find bizarre.

Its only natural that a nation has a friendly when not playing a qualifier. Every country does it when its their turn not to play a qualifying game.

Its just sheer misfortune that Owen got injured. Can't really blame this one on the FA.

Yeah but we do have a qualifier. It's just on Wednesday. Fair enough if there's a two month gap but it's 5 days!

A bad decision, whoever made it and supported it.

It's our only chance to play where the actual final(s) will be played.

Didn't know it was tonight either.

Owen injured what a surprise he would injure himself inside a padded room....wimp.

BTW when was this friendly organized?

But why play key players? Only england can shoot themselves in the foot. Not that it matters anyway.

Everyone moans about the Premier League players playing too much, then they have a meaningless game (which i totally forgot about!) 5 days before one of the most important games for ages(Unless Russia Bater Israel!)

FA are an absoulte joke run by old folk who should be in OAP homes.

They are probably all gay and only meet to indulge in gay sex.

Also did you know if England dont qualify the players still get 150 GRAND each by the FA????

(That was on teletext!!)

150,000 POUNDS FOR FCUKING FAILURE!!!!

DISGRACE!

Less than 2 weeks wages for most of them and they have played 12 qualifying games.

What a waste of time that was.

David Platt is clueless. If he actually believes England gave a very god performance he's living on a different planet. OK, first half was decent but the second was very poor.

Why is the English game so that a team who is winning 1-0 sits back and can't keep the bloody ball?

Absolute joke.

I could see this coming a mile off, even if the friendly was arranged by the F.A why did McClaren have to risk players like Owen who are already proven at this level and with a crucial game on the horizon knowing hes injury prone. The man is a complete willy puller.

In a way i'm glad. We won't qualify and see the back of this twat once and for all. Bring in the special one.
