Jay Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 He might go and join Smegson at Bolton now, although I heavily doubt it. what not? that Ricky Sbragia or whatever his name is from Bolton is off to join Keane at Sunderland so there is a space on the coaching staff!!
Master Fox Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Unfortunately, wonderful as Chelsea was, our principal need is to perform with attitude in League matches. You’ve missed the point completely. We’ve been poor in the league for years now, so our current situation isn’t unexpected. Of course we all know that the league is the most important thing above all other competitions, but given the circumstances at the time the game against Chelsea was absolutely bloody brilliant!!
Thracian Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 I'd like someone, to name anyone, actually anyone, not just at Leicester, who they consider to be a "proper wing back" who is in our price range and good enough. Ironically the only one I can think of is James Chambers. I have no idea why he's never been tried in serious matches - other than against Forest when he was excellent in that abandoned half game. Some of the defensive work he did prevented a real cave-in. You’ve missed the point completely. We’ve been poor in the league for years now, so our current situation isn’t unexpected. Of course we all know that the league is the most important thing above all other competitions, but given the circumstances at the time the game against Chelsea was absolutely bloody brilliant!! I've never said or implied that it wasn't.
davieG Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 You and Ric know your football and are both right about the limited choices, I appreciate that, but there's still the matter for manages and coaches of where to place the emphasis even in a crisis.I believe we suffer in lots of ways from having no attackers in our first team coaching line up, at least that I know about. It has meant over seasons now that, when push comes to shove, we always go safety first. And with Burrows/Taggart that meant those three centre-backs. And as so often, it didn't work. You have to score goals to win football matches and you have to win at home to have any realistic chance of success. Maybe they didn't want to rock the boat that Megson had launched for all they knew every game was the last and to chop and change the system/approach could have made the situation worse. A case of letting sleeping dead dogs lie. The Chelseas perforamnce like the previous cup games is a red herring I doubt whether the managers involved had any real impact on what happend.
Thracian Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Well we've a new manager now, whose old fans claim he plays attacking football. Why don't you stop moaning like an eejit and just wait and see what happens? I'll stop moaning when I actually see the attacking football that people keep hinting we're going to get. So far, it's always tomorrow.
Thracian Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Hume and Wesolowski were both only half fit, so even if they started, they'd of had to have been replaced in the second half. Chambers has proved to be very much a mixed bag in midfield, infuriating at times and competent at others. John should have played, instead of Cort, but not as well as. Otherwise that again would have meant having 2 strikers playing out of position in a formation that had 6 defenders already in it and just 1 midfielder. Mattock was only half fit too and I know full-well that if I wanted to score goals I would start with Hume way ahead of Mattock and wouldn't think twice about playing 4-3-3 either. But as Finnegan suggests it's not worth getting uptight about. I don't share the popular view that because Taggart was a playing hero he's necessarily any use at all as a coach but it's no big deal and we do have a new manager so, like everyone else, I shall look forward to the new, "new dawn".
davieG Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 It could well be a case of Hobson's Choice Another false dawn or a squeeze of Dawn's falsies. I don't fancy either

davieG Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 You know you'd love a go on her fun bags!! Hers aren't false though - surely not? It would defy Newton's laws of gravity
Master Fox Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Hers aren't false though - surely not? It would defy Newton's laws of gravity It depends if you class grade A obesity as a false way of obtaining ballooning breasts ?
davieG Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 It depends if you class grade A obesity as a false way of obtaining ballooning breasts ? Probably cheaper and more fun getting there.
Master Fox Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Probably cheaper and more fun getting there. Most definitely! Having buttered bacon with fried lard every morning would be great!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 What this football club needs is stability - not more negative opinions based on a handful of games during times of injury crisis and managerial upheaval.
Ric Flair Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Mattock was only half fit too and I know full-well that if I wanted to score goals I would start with Hume way ahead of Mattockand wouldn't think twice about playing 4-3-3 either. So you'd of had Hume at left wing-back then? Sheehan was suspended that game and we had, no-one, I repeat no-one else who can play at left back or left wing-back. Hume being more attack minded than Mattock is a no brainer given the fact one's a striker and the other a defender.

Ric Flair Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 I think he means in a 4-3-3 system? So who would have played at left back that game then, what with Sheehan being suspended? If he even dares say James Chambers or any other player who'd be out of position then i'll remind him of this when he goes berserk when we play players out of position at times. Thracian has been a big criticiser of playing right backs such as Chambers, Kenton, Stearman & Maybury at left back over the years, especially when there are left backs available for selection at the time (Mattock being available, against Burnley).

I'm not condemning what he said for a second because I myself don't agree with it, just thought you'd misread it thats all. I hate players playing out of position as much as the next guy, especially when they're not even close to full fitness. We pissed about so much with shit signings in the summer, it's our own fault when we're left short in certain positions. Mainly down to our piss poor scouting system.
Staf Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Sad to see Burrows go but thanks for everythinf Frank

That's why his comments about he'd have played Hume ahead of Mattock are odd given we had no other left sided player let alone defender available against Burnley. No doubt he'll dazzle us all with a bizarre formation in a minute that will quell my argument.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 23 November 2007 Author Posted 23 November 2007 You know you'd love a go on her fun bags!! Enough for everyone there !! Oh Matron !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
smokey Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Sad to see Burrows go but thanks for everythinf Frank Does anyone know who will be his assistant Manager, taggs is first team coach! Will he bing in Tim Breaker??

ronnup Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 No. I know he wasn't up to it, so what? But we all knew he was only here for the short term. I can't really see the point in slating the guy. What little enjoyment we've had supporting the club over the last few years, I'd say that of 6,500 people who went to Chelsea had one the best experiences they've had following Leicester (including yourself) under the guidance of Burrows and Gerry. The team performed magnificently that evening, so for that reason I don't believe too much criticism can be directed at the caretakers. here here! And the tash, Best bit of fun in a seriously long list of nobody staff.
OzFox311 Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 Shame to see him go, did a decent job as a caretaker but was never really an option, thanks for helping us out Frank and good luck for the future..
