Guest Daniel Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 Akinbiyi number two. Maybe even worse. 74828 He is better than Akinbye, simply because he has a decent first touch, apart from that he's a pile of shit.
Steven Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 Akinbiyi number two. Maybe even worse. 74828 Be fair, Akinbiyi number two is David Connolly.
Mark Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 I really didn't want us to sign this bloke from what i heard about him. He is actually worse than Scowcroft (he can stay where he is though). He may well suit the Scottish league but this league no no no. Him trying to win headers towards the end of the match became ridiculous, he's worse than Dublin! With his height it should be food and drink for him.
Muz Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 I prefer Scowcroft ! 74853 So do i Maybe even Blake is better than him
Anish Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 Yep I agree with what everyone has said there - look how tall he is, he should be winning everything in the air. The guy needs to start jumping ffs, he's just like Dion Dublin was at the start of the season. His first touch is great but if he can't win the ball in the air we may as well not bother playing him up front.
Ash Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 I prefer Scowcroft ! 74853 So do i Maybe even Blake is better than him 74855 Wouldn't go that far
Durnerz Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 He doesnt gamble enough, time and again gillespie and co were standing them up near post for him but gerrard got in there first while de vries was static, shocking performance from the strikers today against a team we should have stuffed.
Rugby Fox Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 The first thing i thought when i saw him against Blackpool was - another Akinbiyi
emmalcfc Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 You know the grass in Spain is quite springy. Do you think de Vries could benefit from something like that?
Jonbluefox9 Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 He looked very poor today but I'm not going to slate him yet. If he's still not producing at the start of next season then I'll certainly be unhappy with him.
Theheartsdaddy Posted 5 March 2005 Posted 5 March 2005 You can now see why me and other hearts fans wernt to bothered about DeFries leaving. For being as tall as he is he should win more headers in the air. Most of the time he goes up for a header it is a huge effort for him. With a bit more effort im sure he could be a far better player.

Scow Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 MDV just doesn't attack the ball - He stands there waiting for the ball to drop on to his head. I think alot of people sussed out early on that he wasn't great in the air. However, he has a great first touch and he brings others in to play. Just a shame that he can't shoot properly...
Cobbo Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Shcoking that people are slating him so much straight away. Anyone remember the Charlton game? He was immense. #### fickle as anything some of you.

He was immense. #### fickle as anything some of you. 75037 Fickle Boneheads? © Yesterday he was shocking, his heading was poor to say the least. The amount of chances he had to put the game beyond F****t dont bare thinking about and Coneley wasnt much better! We really must learn to break down oppositions defences but on yesterdays showing MDV isnt the man for that particular job shoot me down if you wish but the guy lost us the game yesterday!
kirkup21 Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 I wouldn't say just MDV lost us the game yesterday, Connolly was alot worse if you ask me.
Katy Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 I wouldn't say just MDV lost us the game yesterday, Connolly was alot worse if you ask me. 75043 Well, with it being a MDV thread and all that but yes, the pair of them were woefully below par yesterday.
Anish Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 I wouldn't say just MDV lost us the game yesterday, Connolly was alot worse if you ask me. 75043 Exactly - at least MDV was where a striker is supposed to be i.e not on the wing.
kirkup21 Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Connolly even moved his head out the way of a far post header!
