Anish Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Connolly even moved his head out the way of a far post header! 75054[/snapback] Oh yes I remember that now...wft was he playing at?
Durnerz Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Williams should have taken the easiest chance of the lot, open goal, first time bang! could have changed the game but he bottled it
The Livingston Fox Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 Said it when we signed MDV that he was lazy.
Leicester_Mad Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 He's Strong He's Tall He cant Head the #### ball Mark De Vreis Mark De Vries. Gonna give him a chance but he must be nearing double figures for appearances now and not 1 goal.
Ricey Posted 6 March 2005 Posted 6 March 2005 From what I have seen of him he hasn't impressed me but please give him time. I always got the eeling we would only see the best of De Vries next season.

Frenzied Posted 7 March 2005 Posted 7 March 2005 De Vries is certainly no Akinbiyi. He has a football brain, which Akinbiyi never had and still doesn't have. Even on Saturday he did a couple of good things. He seems pretty skillful for such a big man. He needs time. He's only just come back from injury and into a difficult situation where the fans are getting on the players backs and we're also at the very early stages of rebuilding. A couple of goals and his confidence should return. It's just going to take a little time.
Robsdee Posted 7 March 2005 Posted 7 March 2005 Too slow and doesn't look fit to me. Is he scared of heading the ball, looked like it!

We can kid ourselves into thinking we wont get relegated but in reality if we dont start scoring LEAGUE goals we will simple as! The teams down there have been down there pretty much all season and are used to it we arent! With MDV seemingly being off form/not match fit etc and Connoly not taking his chances its avery worrying statistic, that theres always one team who gets dragged into it and goes down - I dont want that to be us!
Frenzied Posted 7 March 2005 Posted 7 March 2005 True, we need to be scoring goals and time isn't on our side. But we also need to stop conceding stupidly. Our loss against the trees was also down to poor defending, as was our loss to Stoke. Their goal was not the only occassion we left players unmarked in the box. I can think of at least two other times that F$*^$t had men free in our area and only poor crossing meant we weren't punished again. Dabizas is a problem - his positioning is terrible at times. As for the striker situation, what choice do we have apart from playing Connolly and De Vries? I'm sure they will start scoring soon. It's also important to point out that it's not only the forwards that are missing chances. Players from all positions have been guilty of squandering chances. Our problem with getting the ball in the back of the net was eveident before De Vries was signed. And earlier in the season Connolly was very unlucky - he hit the post on numerous occassions and has now lost confidence. I believe he is a better player than Dickov but just needs to be playing in a more settled side, which, if we avoid the drop, hye should be next season.

But Levein was right to sell Benjamin and Scowcroft - two of the highest earners at the club and two players that were quite frankly dead wood. Benjamin tried hard but to be honest was a joke of a footballer. As for players missing chances we need look no further than Scowcroft, who in his time with us missed hundreds of easy headers.

Otherwise we just have to hope that they finally click up front, Connolly and De Vries that is...
