Surely you can appreciate that it's not been quite as simple as the playing staff being the defining factor this season?

Yes, putting that into consideration, we haven't done too bad,.

7 points off play offs with a game in hand too.

But we still haven't improved points wise.

Well the squad isn't improved if they aint performing have they :frusty:

Why can't you understand where im coming from? I said the squad has improved. I don't give a toss about the points.

But the squad hasn't improved, because the squad last season got more points at this stage of the season.

Last season we weren't much kop. We got off to a pathetic start away to Luton and at home to someone else (Burnley?)

But... this season, we've had four different management teams in the same number of games. Allen, caretaker team #1, Megson, caretaker team #2, and now Holloway.

Last season we were crap, but at least there was some level of stability. This season we've chopped and change at an incredible rate - not just the players we've used but also the management we've had. To compare relatively stable seasons with the nightmare that has become this season is a bit odd, and it has to be taken into account.

We're one point behind our position last season... we shouldn't be, we really should be ahead... but with all the turmoil of recent weeks, it's no surprise we've not advanced much points-wise.

Ask the same question after 23 games, and see if things look any better by then... that'll be a much better point of reference, I reckon.

I think we are doing much better this season.

We are 7 points off 4th place with a game in hand and i can see us thrashing Cardiff tomorrow.

Sure we have 1 point less than last season but other teams have less too.

Im sure we were at least 10 points off the play offs this time last season :dunno:

We're not far off mid table and it could be a lot worse considering the turmoil we've been through and the decimation of our midfield over the last month.

The players deserve credit for maintaining their focus with what's happened. Hopefully Holloway will come in, improve a few weaknesses and give the squad a bit more depth.

We've beaten Watford, Bristol, Aston Villa and gone pretty close against Chelsea which, with other perfectly creditable results gives a lie to the idea that our players aren't good enough. It is not the full team I particularly worry about - it is when we have injuries or need to replace people.

I don't see much depth nor much variety on the bench if we need to change tactics or emphasis.

We've got better players this season (for the most part), but obviously there's been no significant change in performance or position.

To be fair though, we have had 3 different managers this season already, this hasn't done us any favours.
