Holloway's Post Match Reaction

I sat and watched the game on Saturday and I have to say that I was personally disapointed with the lack of enthusiasm from the team, across the 90 minutes and as such when I was in my car driving home, I lsitened to Mr Holloway's interview on the radio and I was totally bewildered on how he viewed it as a good performance, which would have been better, if the supporters did not voice their opinions.

For a man who is known for voicing his opinions out loud, this was simply stunning and I really do find it difficult to understand the stance that the supporters influenced the game, by not cheering enough. Let me just think here again, football has called it self part of the entertainment industry and as such placed prices to view this in line with other entertainment events (which are not cheap) therefore all those voicing their opinion were paying customers who expected a little more. All the players on the pitch (and the coaching staff) had not paid admission, but were being paid. Surely therefore it is he task of the entertainers to raise the spirits of the customers and not the other way around.

With regards to the mach performance, I would say that even though we started brightly, we seemed to get demotivated and loose confidence when after 10 minutes we had not broken through and slowly the team ran out of ideas of how to break the opposition down. Now this is a player/coach problem and one that cannot be placed at Mr Holloway's door as he has only been here little over a week. The key now is today, Monday morning and if the complaining goes on or if the coaching staff and players get down to sorting out their style and tactics. It is easy to say, but go back to the basics of a passing and possession game, moving the ball out of the danger areas when deciding how to break down the opposition. If there seems no way through, move the ball to the other end of the pitch, away from our danger zone. Not a popular tactic, but one that has worked for teams for many years.

On paper, we have the basis of a reasonable team, but with some gapping holes, especially in midfield where our right centre & wide right players have really struggled. Our attacking line is short of support and ideas and we need to add to the options and styles available. This followed by us having almost no options on the subs bench. This is all very strange, as we have bought so many players this year, most of whom have not made the grade. I am sorry to say that we need a clearance sale of the squad, retaining the prospects and the players the manager feels he can develop quickly to achieve the winning formula.

As a supporter, the opinions I have on tactics, style and players to use will never be heard. That is the job of the guy in charge and Mr Holloway is the latest to hold that role.

As for Mr Holloway, I have not seen him coach before he joined us, although I had obviously heard him in the media, and he has a tough task ahead, which only he knows if he can succeed. But, Mr Holloway, please do not alienate those who have been here for many years before you and will remain here many years after you leave, with your loud media style to divert attention fro your team's performance. Believe me, unless you were a "supporter" of Leicester City you would not pay the extortionate amount that the club charges for tickets for a team that does not warrent that value. I myself have been a season ticket holder for nearly 20 years and have seen players, managers, coaches and owners come-and-go with different levels of success, but I am still here "supporting" my team and will remain there for the future, as I enjoy my football and my club.

The economic facts mean that the more football (and not just Leicester City) ask's and expects it's supporters to pay to watch a match, the more they expect for their money. That is how the world is, especially as there is a car park full of expensive cars and players on high wages, and the media lets everyone know this. If this is a problem, do what other managers have done, get the players to dive to the training ground before a match, get on a coach to come to the game (home and away) removing all the mobile waletts on display in the car park, easily recognisable be the personalised number plates. This should not be a problem, but as I have said with high charges, come high expectations and the amanger needs to manage these and not complain when the customer does not like what they are receiving as value for their hard earned money.

Will we improve in the short term, yes I beleive we will.

Will we change the way we play more in line with the manager's style, again yes I beleive we will.

Will this happen quickly enough to make up for the very difficult season the supporters have had to endure so far, due to many on and off field matters (that they cannot get involved in), no sadly we are half way through the season and now it is only damage limitation and if we can have an exceptional run from now until April get ourselves as close to the play-off positions as possible.

Mr Holloway, please retain your passion and sense of humour (you will need them both), but be honest and sincere in what you say to the media and always look within the team & club for the failing and not up at the stands, as although we would like to, we are not those who you are coaching and managing.

I look forward to listening to the game on Tuesday night and hope for a better team performance and hopefully a goal or two, which could give us the chance of a win.

i think the guy is looking for positives

no point dwelling on the fact that we were crap. i didnt share his sense of optimism but already he has said we need new players which suggests he doesnt think this mob is good enough. which they are not.

Of course I am looking for positives, otherwise why would I want to support a team. I want Leicester City to win matches, pure and simple. But, this does not mean that I can or cannot discuss the process of how we achieve this.

The post was about the mehtod in which the Manager chose to communicate after the match, and how this could be viewed

Holloway shot himself in the foot in the radio interview. Everybody else's fault but his own.:rolleyes:

What a brilliant Idea, lets turn on Ollie after only a week. Lets slag Cort off, lets tell Milan to shove his money and lets get mental Micky and the admin team back in.

Bad Example.

With Mental Mickey and the Admin team we achieved promotion. Won matches and actually had a team that was able to win at this level.

Do we seem to be doing that? No we look like were going for another relegation battle.

Slighlty going off the topic but Micky had Premier League players after relegation the year before. The second time we went down he lost players and we suffered. Its been years since we were up there hence the fact the players arnt of Prem quality.

Back to the topic, can we not just get behind the Manager and players?!?!? Im as frustrated as the next fan but if certain sections keep getting on the players backs then they clearly are not going to improve.

Anybody that thinks Ollie is going to turn the club around after only 1 week are deluded. He needs time to get his views across to players, the players need time to get use to him and when the Transfer Window opens in Jan then Im sure all the areas will be addressed. For now we are stuck with what we have, like it or not. Continue to knock the players confidence with abuse and you can be sure of another relegation battle before Ollie even has a chance to alter the squad!!

You're right about Ollie. The bloke needs time and we have to keep things in proportion. After all, look how long the NHS have had to get it right with all their resources. Yet people are still dying!:D

I feel you may have misinterpretted the nature of the original post, as it clearly did support the manager with time, the question was over how he chose to communicate to supporters afterwards.

The players do need support, but so do supporters from the team and club, by showing their commitment and effort by putting in a performance.

Holloways post match interview made me laugh. I'm surprised he doesn't get fined by the FA for some of his comments..

Bit weak blaming the ref for the loss, the team is sh!t and way below par and he should be blaming them. Walshie was going on about promotion before the game lol

And afterwards! :frusty:
